Chapter 324: I Do Not Care About You

Left with no other choice, Sebastian drove to the Thornton residence and arrived after a short drive. Upon seeing Derek on the sofa, he anxiously asked, "Dad, did Madelyn come back just now?"

"Just now?" Derek squinted, thinking. "No, I'm the only one home." A hint of suspicion filled his gaze. "Did Madelyn cause trouble again and run off somewhere?"

"No," Sebastian explained softly.

"Did you two fight?" Derek asked.

Sebastian remained silent, a tacit agreement. Derek sighed helplessly. "Madelyn has been like this since she was a child. When she throws a tantrum, she disappears. It's really worrisome."

Sebastian responded nonchalantly, "Dad, it's not her fault this time, it's mine. I misunderstood Madelyn."

Derek was clearly taken aback, but Sebastian didn't elaborate. "Since Madelyn isn't here, I'll go look for her. Please rest assured, I'll find her soon." With that, Sebastian left, pondering where to begin his search.

However, as he stepped out, he ran into Madelyn. Her heart skipped a beat. After leaving the hospital, Madelyn had found a place to sit and allowed Josiah to help redress her wound. Afterwards, she asked Josiah to go home, while she took a leisurely walk back to the Thornton residence. After a long walk, her mood had improved significantly.

Recalling his earlier attitude, Madelyn was seething and ignored him, walking past. In the next moment, he gripped her hand.

"What are you doing?" Madelyn asked coldly.

Sebastian, knowing she was angry, softened his tone. "Are you hurt?"

"Mind your own business."

Madelyn shrugged off his hand and walked away, but a tremendous force pulled her back. He pinned her against the wall.

"Stop fussing, let me see your injury," Sebastian said, reaching for her hand.

Madelyn struggled. "No! I don't need your help, stay away from me, you jerk. I told you I don't want to see you, ughโ€ฆ"

Before she finished, a wave of warmth silenced her as Sebastian kissed her passionately.

"Umโ€ฆ let me goโ€ฆ umโ€ฆ"

Whenever Madelyn resisted, his kisses deepened, leaving her no chance to complain. Finally, she bit his lip hard. Sebastian gasped, fresh blood seeping from his lips.

Seeing this, Madelyn felt flustered and apologized. "I'm sorry, Sebastian," she stammered. "I didn't mean toโ€ฆ Are you okay?"

Sebastian sighed. He didn't care about the pain she caused, but about her injuries. He asked, "Are you still angry with me?"

Before she could answer, Sebastian gently lifted her sleeve to inspect her wound. Madelyn stayed still, but her expression showed discomfort.

Given the circumstances, it was entirely necessary for Sebastian to arrange for a personal bodyguard to be with her at all times.

"Come on, give it a rest," she scoffed. Then, sarcastically, she continued, "With a beauty by your side, how could you possibly think of me?" She retracted her arm and pushed him away. "Since I seem to enjoy pretending and acting so much, why would you waste your time on me? Go spend time with your beauty. You're not welcome in the Thornton residence, please leave."

After finishing her words in a huff, Madelyn was about to go inside when Sebastian pulled her back. "You're overthinking it," he said. "Harriet returned to the country because of a recent assignment."

"Ohโ€ฆ really, and why should that concern me?" Madelyn's attitude remained indifferent.

Seeing her puffed-up face, Sebastian laughed. "Still mad?"

"No," Madelyn stubbornly turned away, radiating a proud, coquettish air. "I certainly don't care about you."

Sebastian chuckled, knowing she was venting, and gently embraced her from behind. "Don't be upset anymore, it's all my fault."

Madelyn's heart softened. Then, protesting, her voice filled with a sense of being wronged, she turned around. "Yes, I'm upset! You've nearly driven me to my wit's end! What you saw was a misunderstanding. I could have explained, but you wouldn't listen. I didn't even get a chance to speak! Do you have any idea how much it hurt? You were throwing a tantrum for no reason, not even considering how I felt. I hit my head on the car door and you didn't show the slightest concern. Do you even care about me at all?"

Madelyn poured out her bitterness, feeling injustice and close to tears. Sebastian watched with a heavy heart and quietly explained, "I was angry because you went to see Christopher that night and even embraced him. I couldn't swallow my anger. You promised me, remember? You said you would only be devoted to me, but what happened?"

Madelyn was even more upset. "Who told you I went to find Christopher? I was going to look for you. That night, I was about to sleep when Wesley told me you were wasted. He asked me to come get you, and that's why I went. If you don't believe me, I still have the message!"

She pulled out her phone, scrolling to Wesley's text messages. "Don't believe me? Look, I still have his messages."

Sebastian was taken aback.

"What else could it be?" Madelyn huffed, "I rushed over there, only to find someone passed out drunk on the ground. I thought it was you, but it turned out I got the wrong person, and you even had the audacity to scold me! I really couldn't believe it."

Upon hearing this, Sebastian furrowed his brows, pondering the peculiarities of that night, including Christopher's unexpected appearance and Wesley's text message. Before long, he figured it out: Wesley was stirring up trouble.
