Chapter 325: Go For Her Since You Like Her
Regardless, he had wronged Madelyn. Sebastian humbled himself, quietly apologizing. โIโm sorry, itโs all my fault for accusing you wrongly.โ
Madelyn turned her head away, ignoring him. Sebastian coaxed, โDonโt be upset; youโre like a fairy. If you get angry, you wonโt be as beautiful.โ
โSo what if Iโm not? You donโt care anywayโฆ umโฆโ Her words were cut short as he silenced her with his lips.
After a moment, Sebastian gazed deeply into her dewy eyes. โWho said I donโt care? If itโs about you, I do.โ He then launched into another deep kiss. Madelyn attempted to struggle, but found herself tightly embraced by Sebastian, unable to move.
Madelyn found herself unable to bite him again. Reluctantly, she allowed herself to be hugged and kissed. They had finally resolved their misunderstanding. After sharing an intimate moment, they walked hand in hand through the door.
Seeing the reconciled couple, Derek smiled contentedly. โNow thatโs more like it!โ Everyone then burst into laughter.
The following day, at Lockhart Group, as noon approached, Wesley came to report on official matters. After Sebastian finished, he casually brought up the topic. โMadelyn has already filled me in. Why did you do that?โ His tone was clearly upset.
Even with his eyes closed, Wesley could guess what had transpired. So, he plainly stated, โI simply feel that sheโs not good enough for you, and she certainly doesnโt deserve your kindness.โ
Sebastianโs expression turned grim. He said, โWesley, although we are good buddies, I hope that in the future, you wonโt impose your beliefs on me. No one knows better than me whether Madelyn is the right fit. As for you, if youโre truly fond of Harriet, stop beating around the bush. Be bold and go after her; itโs far better than ending up with nothing. Constantly creating nonexistent opportunities for others isnโt noble; it just makes you look foolish. Do you understand?โ
โOkay,โ Wesley responded in a low voice. Yet, his mood became increasingly somber. After leaving the office, he ran into Harriet at the door.
โWesley, whatโs wrong with you?โ Harriet was also there to report on official matters. However, upon her arrival, she noticed his poor complexion and immediately asked with concern.
โItโs nothing.โ Wesley glanced at her guiltily before hurrying off. Harriet found it strange and wondered what had happened.
She then walked into the office and asked Sebastian, โWhatโs going on with Wesley? He seems a bit off. Did you two have a fight?โ
โItโs nothing,โ Sebastian responded nonchalantly. โAll right then.โ Harriet had nothing more to say, so she continued with her report.
That night, feeling down, Wesley sought solace in his bar, drowning his sorrows in drinks. As if he had no idea what alcohol was, he unknowingly consumed over a dozen glasses of strong liquor, yet he didnโt feel the slightest bit drunk. As he recalled Sebastianโs words, he couldnโt help but heave a sigh. Deep down, Wesley yearned to go after Harriet. However, he was fully aware that someone else occupied her heart. Knowing he couldnโt win her over, he didnโt want to humiliate himself.
As the saying goes, people often turn to alcohol to drown their sorrows, but it usually only deepens their melancholy. This was likely Wesleyโs state of mind. At that moment, Harriet was gazing into the distance nearby. She searched through the crowd for what felt like an eternity, until at last, she spotted Wesley sitting alone in a dimly lit corner, nursing a solitary drink. She made her way over to him.
โWesley, so youโre here.โ Harriet approached him and offered a smile. Wesley gazed into her radiant eyes, momentarily caught in an illusion.
Looking back now, those eyes were still as beautiful as ever.
โHow did you get here?โ Wesley regained his composure, asking as if nothing was amiss. Harriet poured herself a full glass of wine before she responded with a laugh. โDid you have a fight with Sebastian?โ
Wesley shook his head, โNot really.โ At most, it could only be considered a dispute. After all, throughout these many years, they had never seriously quarreled.
Harriet sighed, attempting to mediate. โWesley, you really should stop arguing with Sebastian. Heโs managing such a large corporation; the pressure is immense. Of course, there will be times when heโs overwhelmed and stressed. As friends, we should be more understanding and supportive.โ
This remark unexpectedly angered Wesley. Wesley suddenly stood up, unable to contain his anger. He reprimanded, โHarriet, enough already!โ
โWโWhat did I do?โ Harriet looked utterly bewildered. She wondered if she had said something wrong. Why had Wesley suddenly become furious?
โSebastian, Sebastian, Harriet, is he the only one you see? Canโt you see anyone else? You clearly know he doesnโt love you, yet you still care so much about him. Are you going to spend your whole life living in the fantasy of being with him? Am I, Wesley, really that inferior? Am I doomed to forever exist in the shadow of Sebastian?โ
As Wesley finished speaking, his tone became significantly heavier, and his demeanor was incredibly irritable. Harriet was taken aback by the intensity, her own anger flaring up in response. โWesley, whatโs with your random outburst at me? What did I do to provoke you?โ
At this point, Wesley took a deep breath, realizing that he had unfairly taken out his anger on Harriet. Forcing himself to calm down, he suppressed his anger and said, โHarriet, you should leave now. I donโt want to talk at the moment; I just need some time alone.โ
Upon hearing those words, Harriet was so exasperated that she laughed. โAll right, it was my own sentimental concern for you that led me here to comfort you. I shouldnโt have come here only to bear the brunt of your anger. So, Iโll leave, okay? Take some time and calm yourself down.โ
After saying her piece, Harriet turned on her heel and stormed off. Watching her carefree silhouette recede, Wesleyโs heartache intensified.
If it were Sebastian, even if he hurt her repeatedly, she would still be drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Heh, Wesley, your one-sided love is laughable. After a helpless, bitter smile, Wesley picked up a bottle of wine and took a swig straight from the bottle. His Adamโs apple bobbed continuously, already numb to the fiery sting of the liquor, as if he were merely drinking water.
This happened to be witnessed by two individuals seated on the second-floor corridor: Janessa and Hayden.
