Chapter 327: Making Him Repent
โWhat are you two doing here?โ Kieran asked with a feigned smile of surprise.
In reality, this was all planned. Janessa, too, feigned surprise, looking at Eunice. โArenโt you Madelynโs younger sister?โ
Eunice was astonished. โYou areโฆ Janessa?โ
Kieran continued to act shocked. โDo you two know each other?โ
Janessa chuckled. โOf course. Sheโs the younger sister of my old friend, Madelyn. Her name is Eunice.โ She then pretentiously expressed concern. โI heard there have been major changes in the Thornton family recently. Is it true your mother was driven out?โ
Euniceโs face darkened instantly. Consumed by anger, she snapped, โItโs all thanks to my despicable sister! If not for her, my life would have been perfectly fine!โ Turning to Janessa, she growled, โYouโre a friend of that despicable woman, arenโt you? Iโm warning youโmentioning her name again will put us at odds!โ
Janessa smiled and quickly clarified, โYouโve misunderstood, Eunice. I was friends with Madelyn, but since she betrayed me, sheโs become my enemy. My resentment toward her is no less than yours.โ
Eunice cast a doubtful glance at Janessa.
โOf course,โ Janessa said, smiling. โBut I didnโt expect you to be with Kieran. Since Kieran is Hayden and my good friend, that makes you our friend, too. How about we join forces to deal with Madelyn in the future?โ
Eunice hesitated, clearly questioning Janessaโs overly enthusiastic demeanor.
โKieran, why arenโt you saying anything?โ Janessa gave Kieran a knowing glance.
Kieran kissed Euniceโs earlobe, reassuring her, โSweetheart, weโre all friends here, donโt worry.โ
Eunice, bewitched, nodded in agreement. Madelyn remained oblivious to the conspiracy against her, her life continuing as usual.
The next day, she bought supplements before visiting Fiona in the hospital. Fionaโs health had significantly improved. Upon seeing Madelyn, she said apologetically, โIโm sorry, Msโฆโ She paused, saying helplessly, โBut we must do something. If Nathan doesnโt change his ways, your and Jillianโs lives will never be peaceful.โ
Her words prompted agreement.
โBut Nathan has always been like this. Trying to change him is like asking a drug addict to quit. Itโs not that easy!โ Jillian said sadly. As Nathanโs older sister, she was heartbroken by his behavior.
Madelyn patted her shoulder. โJillian, donโt worry. This time, heโll have to change, whether he wants to or not! Otherwise, how are you and your mother supposed to live with him causing trouble every few days?โ
Madelyn turned to Tristan. โTristan, what do you think we should do?โ
Tristan, displeased, huffed in anger. โI think we should capture that rascal and give him a serious lesson!โ
Madelyn smiled. โWhat a coincidence, I was thinking the same thing.โ
Nathan needed discipline, but no one had ever been able to control him, leading to his increasingly unruly behavior.
โBut we have no idea where he is. And even if we find him, how are we supposed to discipline him? Heโs been out in the world for years. Ordinary fights and threats wonโt intimidate him,โ Jillian said with frustration.
Everyone fell into deep contemplation. Jillian made a valid point; minor punishments were no longer sufficient.
Suddenly, Madelyn had an idea. โIโve got a solution!โ
Everyone gazed at her hopefully. Madelyn brought Josiah and Tristan to the black market at night while Jillian stayed with her mother.
When Tristan saw the grandeur of the casino, comparable to the one in Adonia, he was shocked. โOh my goodness, Madelyn, you sure are fearless! Is there anywhere you dare not set foot into?โ
โIsnโt that obvious? Iโve gotten used to it,โ Josiah chimed in.
Madelyn chuckled. โI had no choice.โ She led them upstairs to meet Septimus. All subordinates encountered recognized Madelyn and let her pass without hindrance.
When Madelyn entered with Josiah and Tristan, Septimus was playing chess.
โMr. Septimus, you sure are free!โ Madelyn chuckled.
Septimus looked up, exclaiming, โOh, itโs you, Ms. Thornton. What a surprise!โ
Madelyn smiled and sat down. She cut straight to the chase. โMr. Septimus, I have a favor to ask.โ
Septimus grinned. โJust tell me, Ms. Thornton. Iโll do my best to help, as long as itโs within my capabilities.โ
โGreat! Youโre still as decisive as always, Mr. Septimus!โ Madelyn was delighted.
She stated her purpose. โAs far as I know, you have more than one casino, right?โ
โOf course,โ Septimus chuckled. โIf this was my only casino, I would have been outdone already.โ
The high-ranking executives of the black market each had their own businesses besides managing the market. Madelyn had guessed Septimus had more casinos, and she was right.
