Chapter 331: Slave Contract
Wearing a resolute expression, he spoke firmly. โEven if it means forgoing sleep and starving myself, I absolutely wonโt allow you and Mom to suffer because of me!โ
Jillian was almost moved to tears, seeing Nathanโs change.
However, Tristan emerged and said unceremoniously, โKid, you better stop bragging. A deadbeat like you can forget about earning fifty million in five years. You wouldnโt even be able to make five hundred thousand.โ
โWho said so?โ Nathan was enraged.
Tristan chuckled nonchalantly, โI said so.โ
โYou!โ Overwhelmed with anger, Nathan could barely speak.
โI was just stating the truth. Look at yourself in the mirror. What can you really do?โ Tristan bluntly mocked.
Nathan found himself speechless; Tristan was right. After much contemplation, he realized he had no particular skills. He sighed.
Having anticipated his reaction, Tristan chuckled. โSee? Like I said, you donโt have any skills. How are you going to earn fifty million?โ
โAre you done?โ Nathanโs irritation flared. โThatโs none of your business. Iโll find a way on my own.โ
โHeh, what could you possibly do?โ Tristan said mockingly.
Nathan was so furious he almost passed out.
At that moment, Tristan spoke again. โOf course, itโs not hopeless. That is, unless youโre willing to listen to me.โ
โListen to you?โ Nathan was puzzled. โWhy should I listen to you?โ
โBecause I can ensure you make fifty million within five years,โ he said, wearing a confident smile.
Nathan wavered, seeing that smile. Swallowing nervously, he asked, โWhat solutions do you have?โ
Tristan grinned. โI can teach you, but first, you have to sign a documentโa slave contract.โ
โA slave contract?โ Nathan furrowed his brows in confusion.
Nathan frowned. โSo Iโm supposed to sell myself? But this contract will only last for five years. Itโs actually worthwhile if I can repay the forty-million-dollar debt in five years, especially if Jillian and Mom can be spared.โ
Hence, Nathan nodded. โAll right. Letโs do that then.โ
With that, the matter was resolved. Upon hearing this, both Jillian and Madelyn breathed a sigh of relief.
It was Tristanโs turn to get busy. In reality, he was quite troubled. Making fifty million in five years was incredibly difficult for most people. However, his ultimate goal was simply to help Nathan find his motivation. That would be enough.
After everything was settled, Jillian and her mother expressed their profound gratitude to Madelyn.
โMs. Thornton, Iโm truly sorry for troubling you once again,โ said Fiona.
โMadelyn, thank you for everything,โ Jillian said with a smile.
Madelyn waved her hand dismissively. โHey, weโre all friends here. Helping each other out is only natural. You guys donโt need to thank me.โ
They exchanged smiles. After settling everything, Madelyn headed to Lockhart Group to meet Sebastian.
At that moment, Sebastian was swamped with work. He spared a moment to glance at Madelyn before immersing himself in work again. Madelyn was slightly dissatisfied.
At that moment, Malcolm rushed in, breathlessly reporting, โMr. Lockhart, Iโm sorry, I couldnโt find Mr. Gilbert.โ
Sebastian frowned. โGot it, you may leave now.โ
โWhatโs going on?โ Madelyn sensed something was amiss.
However, Sebastian clearly didnโt want to explain. Malcolm quietly excused himself. Although she wasnโt fully aware of the specifics, Madelyn could make a rough guess: Wesley and Sebastian were probably fighting again.
Instead of asking more questions, Madelyn slipped outside and called out to Malcolm. โHey, Malcolm! Did something happen between Sebastian and Wesley?โ
Madelyn immediately asked in anger.
Frightened, Malcolm hesitated. โSorry, Mr. Lockhart. A couple of days ago, Mr. Lockhart and Mr. Gilbert had a major disagreement. Ever since, Mr. Gilbert hasnโt returned to the company. Mr. Lockhart has had to shoulder all the work himself.โ
Madelyn knitted her brows. I thought Wesley and Sebastian were the best of friends. They know each other best and work seamlessly together. What on earth could have caused them to argue?
She asked, puzzled, โMalcolm, do you know why they argued?โ
โUmโฆโ Malcolm hesitated.
Irritated with his indecisiveness, Madelyn threatened, โTell me what you know and stop stuttering. If you donโt, youโll regret it.โ
Malcolm jumped, spilling the beans with a troubled expression. โUmโฆ It might be because of youโฆโ
โBecause of me?โ Madelyn was bewildered. โWhat does that have to do with me?โ
Malcolm sighed and roughly recounted the situation. It turned out that Wesley had tricked Madelyn previously, so Sebastian sought him out to settle the score. However, their discussion fell through, and after a heated argument, Wesley vanished.
What the f*ck? What on earth was that all about? Madelyn was immediately filled with frustration.
Following that, she stormed to the finance department to find Harriet.
โMs. Moore, do you happen to know where Wesley has gone?โ Madelyn asked upon entering the room.
Harriet cast a disdainful glance. โHow would I know?โ
Madelyn snorted coldly. โIf even you donโt know, then no one else does.โ
โSo what?โ Harriet smiled provocatively. โEven if I do know, why should I tell you?โ
โYou!โ Madelyn flew into a rage, but suppressed her anger, forcing a smile. โFine. Even if you donโt tell me, I can still find him.โ
Having said that, Madelyn left, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Wesleyโs house.
