Chapter 332: Do Not Let Me See You Again
Since she had no idea where to find him, she went directly to Wesley's house. In short order, she arrived at the Gilbert Manor and pounded aggressively on the door. โWesley, come out now! Be a man and show yourself!โ
She waited, but received no response. Her irritation grew. What the hell's going on? Where on earth did he go?
At that moment, Wesley's neighbor returned home. Seeing Madelyn pounding on the door, he approached and said, โYoung lady, save it. Mr. Gilbert is definitely not home at this hour. His butler's on vacation, too. No one's home.โ
Madelyn was taken aback. โDo you happen to know where Mr. Gilbert has gone?โ The neighbor shook his head. โHow would I know his whereabouts?โ
After a pause, he added, โBut Mr. Gilbert seems to be in a rather foul mood these past couple of days. He comes home drunk almost every night. You can even smell the alcohol from a distance.โ
So, heโs out for a drink? Instantly, she had an ideaโthe same club where Wesley had messaged her last time, asking her to pick him up. If Iโm not mistaken, heโs definitely there.
She thanked the neighbor. โThank you.โ โYouโre welcome.โ He smiled and watched as Madelyn hailed a taxi and hurried away.
Soon after, she reached Elite Club. After getting out of the car, she headed inside and scanned the crowd. Sure enough, she spotted Wesley sitting in a corner. His table was filled with alcoholic beverages. Without a doubt, he was about to get intoxicated.
Madelyn immediately rushed over. โWesley Gilbert, I knew Iโd find you here.โ
โWhy are you here?โ Wesley asked, surprised. He hadn't expected Madelyn. His expression turned sour. โI own this club, so youโd better leave now. Youโre not welcome here.โ
Wesley immediately sprang to his feet. โMadelyn, you calling me a coward?โ
โYou, of course!โ She glared at him. โYou pushed Harriet to Sebastian when you couldnโt win her over yourself and played the victim. What a joke! Forgive my frankness, Wesley, but has Sebastian ever treated you poorly all these years? Heโs always valued you, treating you as his right-hand man, his best friend. But what about you? Look at what youโve done! Do you think everyone else is blind? Youโve been imposing your views on Sebastian, and he never said anything. Now that heโs going against your wishes, you went off the grid and stopped showing up at work. Hah, donโt you think youโre being a bit too childish?โ
Madelyn ranted in one breath. Wesley, already in a bad mood, was even more irked by her words. Finally, he roared, โAre you f*cking done?โ
Madelyn scoffed. โNot at all. What, canโt stand me? Why donโt you hit me?โ
โDonโt think I wonโt!โ Livid, Wesley raised his hand, his eyes wide with fury. However, his hand paused in mid-air. Thoughts raced through his mind, and he suppressed his anger, lowering his hand and growling, โI never hit women, let alone someone like you. I wouldnโt want to sully my hands by touching you. Get away from me now and donโt let me see you again!โ
Madelyn chuckled. โYou think Iโd sully your hands? What a joke! Iโd say youโre the one dirtying my eyes! I only realized today that Iโve been overestimating you. Even though we disagreed in the past, I always thought you were decent and loyal to your friends. Hence, I never spoke ill of you to Sebastian. But what about you? Donโt think Iโm unaware of the bad things youโve said about me behind my back! I kept quiet to save you from humiliation, and I didnโt want to drive a wedge between you and Sebastian. But now it seems, my worries were unnecessary. You call yourself a man, Wesley? Youโre nothing more than a coward who runs away from problems! Fine, if youโre reluctant to be friends with Sebastian, you might as well sever ties with him. Honestly, I think heโd be better off without you. From now on, stay away from me!โ
After yelling at him, Madelyn stormed off. Wesley was left speechless. He stood there, stunned, before slumping onto the couch.
Meanwhile, on the second floor, Hayden and Janessa watched. Entertained, Janessa said, โSometimes what youโre searching for comes to you when you least expect it.โ
โHayden, itโs your time to shine,โ said Janessa, casting a flirtatious glance at him, a triumphant smile playing on her lips.
Grasping her meaning, Hayden smirked and beckoned his subordinates. โFollow that woman and make sure you catch her.โ
โGot it!โ His subordinates nodded, giving chase.
Hayden called Josiah. โJosiah, if you donโt want your little lover to get into trouble, you better hurry over to Elite Club. If youโre late, donโt say I didnโt warn you.โ After speaking, Hayden ended the call.
At that time, Josiah was at home, changing. He was confused upon receiving the call. My lover? Whoโs that? Marilyn Monroe? Wait a minute. Why would Hayden call me out of the blue? Is he talking about Madelyn? Oh no!
Alarmed, Josiah widened his eyes. He grabbed a blue jacket and ran out of the house.
