Chapter 333: Worrisome Brat
Madelyn stormed out of the club, muttering, โWesleyโs such a jerk! Whatโs wrong with me lecturing him? Doesnโt he realize heโs the one with the issue? Canโt he fight for the woman he loves? He blames his incompetence for failing to win her over. How can he push her to Sebastian? Does he treat Sebastian like a garbage collector?โ
Madelyn grew increasingly frustrated but quickly regained her composure. โOh, whatever. Iโve said all there is to say. Wesley should take some time to reflect on himself.โ She walked to the roadside to hail a cab.
Unbeknownst to her, several people from the club followed. They exchanged glances, seemingly scheming. Feeling something was amiss, Madelyn glanced back and saw one of the men pointing maliciously at her.
โCrap!โ
Madelynโs heart pounded, her pupils constricting. Seizing an opportunity, she bolted across the road, ignoring the traffic light, and headed for the pedestrian path.
The men yelled, โAfter her!โ
Their path was blocked by several sedans, but to Madelynโs astonishment, they were incredibly agile, flipping over the cars to land on the other side.
โHeavens! Whatโs with them?โ
She sprinted, grumbling inwardly. Could Wesley have sent these people? No, it canโt be. As much as he hates me, he canโt possibly do such a thing.
Meanwhile, Sebastian arrived home from work to find Madelyn missing. He frowned. Did she return to the Thornton residence? He called, but the butler confirmed she hadnโt returned.
Just as he was deep in thought, his phone rangโan unknown number. After hesitating, he answered to hear Josiahโs arrogant voice. โHello? Is this Sebastian?โ
Sebastianโs expression turned cold. Few people dared to address him by his first name. Josiah continued, โI know youโre Sebastian. Iโm Josiah. Madelyn might be in trouble at Elite Club. You should hurry over there!โ
โWhatโs going on?โ Sebastian asked, displeasure flickering across his features.
Josiah sighed. โItโs Hayden. But I donโt know the details. Letโs go check it out first.โ He hung up.
Sebastian rushed to Elite Club, but everything seemed normal. Madelyn was nowhere to be seen. Janessa, chatting with Hayden on the second floor, spotted Sebastian and felt a surge of infatuation.
โWhat are you looking at?โ Hayden asked, puzzled.
Janessa smiled, ignoring him and hurrying downstairs. โItโs been a while, Sebastian,โ she said, approaching with a radiant smile.
Sebastian regarded her indifferently. โWhat are you doing here?โ
Thinking he was concerned, she was elated. โOh, Iโm just hanging out with friends.โ
โIs it Madelyn?โ Sebastian asked immediately.
โUmโฆ No, some other friends,โ Janessa stammered, feeling awkward.
Sebastianโs heart sank when his hopes were dashed. He resumed his aloof demeanor. โNothing. Go ahead and enjoy hanging out with yourโฆโ
The color drained from Janessaโs face.
Meanwhile, Wesley, slightly tipsy, was leaving the club when he encountered Sebastian. Wesley greeted him awkwardly, โSebastian, what are you doing here?โ
Ignoring pleasantries, Sebastian asked, โHave you seen Madelyn?โ
โMadelyn? Heh, she left a long time ago,โ Wesley said sardonically, irritated by the memory of their argument.
Sebastianโs expression darkened. She left? But where could she have gone? He called Madelyn, but her number was unavailable. He tried again, with the same result.
Wesley, noticing Sebastianโs grim expression and failed calls, asked nervously, โWhat happened?โ
โMadelynโs missing,โ Sebastian said uneasily. โWhat a worrisome brat!โ
