Chapter 337: I Will Not Let You Off
โNo? Was I blind then?โ Phantom chuckled, a chilling sound. โSince youโre so fond of crippling othersโ hands, why not start with your own?โ
With that, Phantom turned, his expression impassive. I didnโt want the next scene to sully his eyes.
โAh!โ Haydenโs agonized scream, following the sound of a bone snapping, sent chills down everyoneโs spine. Seeing his arm twisted and dangling uncontrollably, he was terrified, crying and screaming, completely losing his composure. Madelynโs heart skipped a beat. She never imagined things would turn out this way. She couldnโt help but admire Phantom; he was truly ruthless!
Finding Hayden too noisy, Phantom promptly led his subordinates away, taking Madelyn with him. Half an hour later, they were in a bar, also one of the Oceanic Empireโs secret bases. After Madelyn changed clothes and tended to her wounds, Phantom invited her to a private room.
Seated on the couch, Madelyn sipped her drink, casting a puzzled glance at Phantom. โHow did you know I was in danger? You even rescued me. Surely, this isnโt just a coincidence?โ
Phantom chuckled. โYouโre right. It truly is a coincidence.โ
Madelyn was dumbfounded. โActually, Ms. Morgana has been wanting to see you these past few days, so she sent me to find you. We didnโt expect you to be missing.โ He grinned mischievously. โSpeaking of that, donโt you owe me a favor? If I hadnโt arrived in time, your hand would have been ruined.โ
Madelyn nodded. Phantom was right; if he hadnโt arrived, she would have been the one with the broken arm.
Wait a minute! Suddenly, Madelyn exclaimed, โDid you just say Morgana is going to see me in a couple of days?โ
Madelyn was dumbfounded. Although she knew Morgana wanted to meet her, she didnโt expect it so swiftly! She was totally unprepared. She asked in a soft, timid voice, โPhantom, can you speak to Morgana for me? Could we postpone it? Iโm not quite ready yet.โ
Phantom cackled. โOf course, if thatโs how much you yearn for death.โ
โF*ck!โ Madelyn was immediately annoyed. How could someone be so forceful? This was completely unreasonable. Phantom was amused, thinking Madelyn was probably the only woman who dared to curse him.
โSo, is Morgana here?โ
โHow could that be?โ Phantom scoffed. โDo you think youโre important enough for Ms. Morgana to meet you personally?โ
โAll right, you have a point,โ Madelyn pursed her lips. โWhen is she coming?โ
โYou!โ Phantom was nearly driven to madness. If this were any ordinary woman, he would have had her killed. But she wasnโt ordinary. Suppressing his anger, he said, โWhat I mean is, you need to come with me overseas to meet Ms. Morgana.โ
โHuh?โ Madelyn was surprised.
โWhat, wasnโt I clear enough?โ Phantomโs patience was wearing thin.
โNo, no,โ Madelyn hastily waved her hands, pulling out her phone. โGoing abroad is fine, but I need to inform my family first. Otherwise, theyโll worry.โ
Before she could call, Phantom snatched her phone. โKeep in touch with your family? Are you trying to reveal your whereabouts?โ
โI- Iโm notโฆ I just wanted to let them know Iโm safe.โ Madelyn looked at him innocently.
Phantom scoffed coldly. โLet me tell you, you are safer if you donโt tell anyone where you are. If you reveal even a hint of your location, Morgana wonโt let you off. When the time comes, not only will I be unable to save you, but your family might also be dragged into this mess.โ
What? Madelyn was stunned, then angry. โAre you guys really resorting to threats? Doesnโt Morgana want to meet me? Whereโs the sincerity in that?โ
Phantom laughed. โSincerity? You had the audacity to impersonate Ms. Morgana. Not killing you is already the greatest act of sincerity.โ
โIโฆโ Madelyn was speechless. Phantom handed her phone to a subordinate. โFor your safety, your phone will be kept here until we return. You can stop thinking about calling anyone now.โ
Madelyn could only look at the phone reluctantly. It seemed she had to go abroad.
Meanwhile, Sebastian and Josiah arrived at the abandoned log factory to find a complete mess. There was no sign of Madelyn, only Hayden rolling on the ground, clutching his injured hand, in too much pain to stand. Josiah was livid. He grabbed Haydenโs arm. โWhereโs Madelyn?โ
โAh! It hurtsโฆโ Tears welled up in Haydenโs eyes. He pleaded, โJosiah, please, take me to the hospital! My hand is going to break!โ
Josiah glanced at his hand coldly. โIn your dreams!โ Sebastian stepped forward, his cold face and oppressive aura even more terrifying than Josiahโs. This reminded Hayden of Phantom, making his hair stand on end. He begged, โPlease donโt hit me!โ
Sebastian remained indifferent. โWhere is Madelyn?โ
Hayden trembled. โIโฆ I donโt know! I donโt have herโฆโ
โWasnโt she kidnapped by you? If sheโs not with you, then where could she be?โ Sebastianโs face grew colder.
โI really had no idea. She just ran offโฆโ Hayden was on the verge of tears. He didnโt even know who those men were. How could he know where Madelyn had gone? For a moment, Hayden clutched his arm, unable to speak coherently.
Josiahโs fury intensified. He grabbed Hayden by the collar. โThereโs so many of you, and you let Madelyn escape? Who do you think youโre fooling? Tell the truth, now!โ
โJosiah, look at the state Iโm in! How could I possibly dare to deceive you?โ Hayden lamented helplessly. โAt the start, Madelyn was indeed here. However, out of the blue, a group of men in black appeared. They injured all of us and took Madelyn awayโฆโ
