Chapter 338: She Was Disappointed

“As for where she went, I really have no clue!”

With tears and snot streaming down his face, Hayden pleaded, “I’m begging you, take me to the hospital first. I can’t lose my hand! If I do, I won’t be able to hold a gun anymore…”

However, Josiah simply ignored him.

After looking around, Wesley discovered that Hayden was telling the truth. Almost all the subordinates had been disciplined, each one beaten to a pulp and disheveled. At that moment, Wesley’s gaze was suddenly drawn to a small piece of metal on the ground. Out of curiosity, he immediately picked it up. He realized it was a spent bullet.

“Sebastian, look. This bullet seems different.”

As Wesley spoke, he walked over to Sebastian with the bullet. Sebastian glanced at it, his attention immediately drawn. His voice grew considerably colder as he pointed out, “This is no ordinary bullet.”

Wesley nodded, logically analyzing. “The material and craftsmanship of this bullet are very rare in our country. Only large organizations will order such bullets in bulk. It’s not something an average person will use.”

Upon hearing those words, Sebastian’s gaze inevitably darkened. Then, he suddenly stepped forward, his expensive leather shoe trampling hard on Hayden’s broken hand. His tone was deadly cold. “Listen carefully, Hayden. This whole situation started because of you. If anything happens to Madelyn, I swear I will make you pay with your life.”

Hayden’s face grew paler with each second as Sebastian stepped on his hand. Almost scared to death, he quickly pleaded, “No, Ms. Tang won’t be harmed! She won’t be!”

Sebastian coldly scoffed, “You better start praying.” With that, he removed his leg and walked away. The large battalion behind him followed suit.

When they reached the door, Harriet came stumbling over. Rushing to Sebastian, she repeatedly apologized, “Sebastian, I’m sorry. This is my fault! I’m truly sorry!”

Sebastian, already furious, and upon seeing her, his tone turned harsh. “You’ve indeed been incompetent. You’ve been training the Shadow Unit for so many years, and yet they can’t even find a single…”

Upon hearing that, Harriet immediately panicked. The Shadow Unit was her labor of love, painstakingly matured over many years. They had made significant contributions to the company. And now, they were just going to disband it? No! Harriet couldn’t accept it.

At this thought, Harriet pleaded with a pained expression, “I’m sorry, Sebastian. I beg you not to disband the Shadow team. No matter what, the team has been my hard work for so many years. I’ll definitely go back and discipline them properly! But I implore you to give them a chance, Sebastian…”

Sebastian ignored her. At that moment, Malcolm stepped forward and said, “Mr. Lockhart, I just received some news. It appears that the Shadow Unit had already located her, but the team leader thought the information was inaccurate, so they didn’t report it… However, in reality, it was indeed Mrs. Lockhart’s location.”

Upon hearing that news, Sebastian’s face immediately darkened. It seemed that the issue wasn’t about the Shadow Unit’s capabilities, but rather a matter of disloyalty among his subordinates! The Shadow Unit was under Harriet’s charge; thus, she was undeniably involved. Upon thinking about this, Sebastian was filled with rage. The look in his eyes toward Harriet instantly turned dark and mysterious.

“Harriet, I’m warning you. If you’re working with me for personal gains, then you can leave right now. I don’t need a traitor in my team.”

Upon hearing that, Harriet was completely taken aback. She immediately explained in a nervous tone, “No, Sebastian, I really have no idea about this!”

“The Shadow Unit is entirely under your control. If you are unaware, then who else would know about this?” Malcolm added.

Sebastian’s anger flared. He directly lashed out at Harriet, yelling, “Get out!”

“Sebastian, I…”

“I don’t want to repeat myself.” Sebastian’s eyes were hauntingly dark. Harriet’s face turned pale with fear. She didn’t dare to say another word and left without a sound.

Upon returning to the company, Harriet was fuming. She went straight to the independent department of the Shadow Unit, called everyone out, and gave them a thorough scolding.

Following that, she openly reprimanded, “Don’t think I’m unaware that you had already located Madelyn’s exact position, but failed to report it promptly! Now, whose idea was that?”

The air was thick with tension. Following that, everyone’s gaze shifted toward Ethan. Harriet also turned her gaze toward him. At that moment, seeing that the truth couldn’t be concealed any longer, Ethan stepped forward. “Harriet, it was my idea.”

Almost instantaneously, Harriet slapped him across the face. “Who gave you the right to make decisions on your own accord?” Harriet’s tone was filled with extreme anger. Had it been anyone else, perhaps Harriet could have tolerated it. However, it was Ethan, her most trusted confidant! How could this not make her disappointed?

Ethan hadn’t anticipated this outcome. “I’m sorry, Harriet, I was just trying to create an opportunity for you to spend more time with Mr. Lockhart.”

“That’s none of your business!” Harriet glared at him. Ethan immediately fell silent. Following that, Harriet expressionlessly voiced her anger, saying, “Ethan, your duty as the vice leader ends now. Reflect on your actions. As for the new vice leader, I’ll consider who to choose.”

“Yes.” Ethan promptly lowered his head. However, even though Ethan had been demoted, he was quite content. Given that he was part of the Shadow Unit, falsifying information was a grave matter. Had it been anyone else, Harriet would likely have dismissed him on the spot. Was it because he was Harriet’s confidante that she had shown mercy? At the thought of it, Ethan felt even happier. All he needed was for Harriet to care about him just a tiny bit.
