Chapter 46: You Deserve This

The scene was in utter chaos, with a myriad of voices sharing varying opinions. At that moment, someone suddenly stepped forward and declared, “I can vouch for Madelyn. Everything she said is true. Earlier in the office, Felicity admitted to stealing Madelyn’s thesis. The professor even called her parents, and Mr. Buckley was absolutely furious!”

“Wow, so it’s really true?”

“Who would’ve thought Janessa could be this repulsive? She seemed so different!”

Everyone’s gaze toward Janessa shifted instantly, filled with contempt.

“One cannot judge a book by its cover. How could she do such a thing!”

“She’s such a b*tch.”

Janessa had never imagined things would turn out this way. The image she had worked so hard to maintain over the past few years had just been destroyed. She couldn’t accept it.

She quickly grabbed Madelyn’s arm. “That’s not true, Madelyn. Don’t be so quick to believe Felicity’s nonsense. She’s just trying to frame me for all of this!”

“Frame you? That’s truly laughable.”

Madelyn said with disbelief, “Why on earth would she frame you? You two have always been close. I don’t believe she would accuse you without reason. Janessa, stop making up stories. I won’t believe you anymore.”

“No, Madelyn. It’s not what you think it is.” Janessa looked at her helplessly, then began to dodge responsibility. “Actually, all these ideas were Felicity’s! Madelyn, I’m usually close to everyone, not just Felicity. And I don’t see a future in my relationship with Felicity! I, too, have my own reasons.”

“Reasons?” Madelyn suddenly let out a scoff. “Well, tell me about it.”

Immediately, Janessa put on an aggrieved look, looking utterly pitiful.

“Madelyn, there’s something I’ve been hesitant to tell you. Felicity is actually a bit of a troublemaker. She even used to intimidate me quite often… She confided in me a while ago, saying she couldn’t stand you and wanted to give you a hard time, which led to this incident. But I swear, Madelyn, I had no idea about this. I only found out much later. However, I’m no match for Felicity. There’s nothing I could do. That’s why I tried to comfort you, to ease your sorrow. But I never expected Felicity to actually blame everything on me. She is just trying to ruin our friendship, Madelyn. She is the real mastermind behind all this. Don’t let her deceive you, okay?”

As Janessa spoke, her eyes welled up with tears, a few of which managed to escape and trickle down her cheeks. Everyone in the room felt their hearts ached for Janessa. They felt sympathy for her and consequently began to disparage Felicity.

Unexpectedly, at that moment, Felicity entered the classroom through the back door and happened to overhear the conversation. Felicity was already upset, but now, she was even more infuriated. This was something they had planned together. Yet, Janessa had the audacity to push everything onto her alone at such a time. Her actions were beyond outrageous.

Felicity impulsively charged forward. Grabbing onto Janessa’s hair, she harshly slapped her across the face and cursed loudly, “Janessa, what utter nonsense are you spouting! It was you who instructed me to secretly tamper with Madelyn’s paper. Now that things have gone wrong, you’re…”

As she spoke, she delivered another slap.

“You wretch, to think I trusted you all this time. I listened to every word you said, and this is how you repay me?”

In the past, Felicity had indeed been a thug. With just a couple of slaps, she had Janessa in tears and sniveling. Unable to defend herself, Janessa could only plead for mercy amidst her sobs. “Stop hitting me, Felicity. Please stop!”

“You deserve this!”

Felicity was infuriated. After slapping her a few times, she kicked her twice. For a moment, everyone was left utterly speechless. Janessa had always been perceived as a gentle and kind-hearted top student in everyone’s eyes. Yet, at that moment, she was being beaten so harshly that she was wailing and begging for mercy.

The crucial part was, just moments ago, Janessa had claimed her innocence, insisting she hadn’t set up Madelyn. Yet, in the blink of an eye, she was proven guilty. Everything happened so fast, it was nearly impossible to keep up, leaving everyone even more astounded.

Unable to bear the humiliation, Janessa began to retaliate. However, Felicity was relentless, acting like a madwoman. She showed no mercy, clutching onto her hair and refusing to let go. Janessa was frightened by the assault and had no choice but to seek help from others. “What are you all standing around for? Get help!”

The classmates were all engrossed in the spectacle, busy taking pictures. Only the class representatives, truly unable to stand by, sought out the professors. At the same time, Madelyn was standing off to the side, coolly observing. She watched as Felicity and Janessa were at each other’s throats, and she found it rather satisfying. At last, she had vented her frustration.

In a short while, someone suddenly shouted, “The professors are here!” Ruth, George, and Yadiel had come over. Upon witnessing the two entangled in a heated confrontation, George was immediately engulfed in rage.

“Stop it!”

Yadiel and Ruth hastily stepped forward, pulling the two apart. After the fight, both Janessa and Felicity were disheveled and in a state of utter disarray.

George reprimanded, “This is absolutely unacceptable! The very first rule of our university prohibits fighting. Are you blatantly disregarding our rules?”

Janessa seized the opportunity and pleaded tearfully, “Mr. Buckley, you can’t blame me. She was the one who started it.”

“No matter who started it, fighting is simply wrong!” George’s gaze shifted, landing on Felicity. “You again! You just caused trouble for your classmate, and now you’re fighting! Have you no respect for the rules!”

“…” Felicity was genuinely startled, unable to utter a single word.

George announced on the spot, “A student like you is not fit to be in our university. I hereby declare that, from today onward, Felicity is officially expelled! As for the other one, she will receive a demerit as well as a deduction in credits!”

Audible punishment was announced; the scene instantly erupted into an cacophony of noise.

Felicity was in her senior year, on the verge of graduation. Yet, she was expelled on the spot. Mr. Buckley is just too ruthless! A jolt of shock surged through Felicity’s heart.

She pointed at Janessa and said resentfully, “Janessa, remember this day! Every time I see you in the future, I’ll hit you once!”

This time, Janessa was truly frightened. She shrunk back behind others, not daring to respond.
