Chapter 78: Surprisingly Disgraceful

Afternoon had arrived.

Although those who went to the grove didn’t get to witness the scandal involving Jillian, when they recalled the sight of those young men sitting on the ground in a pathetic state, they filled in the gaps with their imagination. Gradually, rumors about it still spread. Various speculations on the forum were twisted into a means of mocking Jillian.

“Do you all remember those guys from earlier and how exhausted they looked at that time? I bet they must have just finished their deeds!”

News of the incident spread like wildfire, eventually reaching Ruth’s ears.

Ruth was instantly infuriated, slamming her hand on the table. “Bring Jillian to me!”

At that moment, Jillian was diligently reviewing her lessons in the classroom. Madelyn had gone to the kickboxing gym. Before she left, she told Jillian that a clean hand wanted no washing and to ignore what other people were saying, which comforted the latter.

Therefore, when Ruth suddenly wanted to meet her again, Jillian had a bad feeling.

Unfortunately, Jillian had no choice but to bite the bullet and heed Ruth’s summons. Upon entering the office, she noticed she wasn’t the only one who had been summoned. Several guys were standing in the office, the very ones who bullied her. Jillian felt her heart lurch.

At that moment, Ruth suddenly asked in a serious tone, “Jillian, tell me the truth. What exactly happened today?”

Jillian felt a sudden unease, pausing for a moment before speaking the truth. “Today, as I was walking on the street, I was inexplicably pulled into a grove by these guys, and then—”

Before she could finish speaking, she was suddenly interrupted by one of the guys there.

The guy pointed at her and exclaimed, “Jillian, you’re lying!”

The others added, “You were the one who invited us, suggesting we all go study in the grove. However, once we arrived there, you seduced us into doing those things with you!”

Jillian was instantly taken aback, her eyes widening in shock. “You’re lying!”

Then, she quickly explained, “Professor Pierson, I didn’t do it. It was them. They dragged me into this…”

“Enough!” Ruth suddenly shouted in anger.

Then, with a scornful look, she stared at Jillian. "They’re all telling the same story, so I don’t believe they’re lying. Jillian, there have already been rumors about you, and now you’ve done something like this. You’ve completely disgraced our class!”

What? How did I become the bar instead of them? Jillian looked at Ruth, baffled. No, that’s not how things are at all!

Just as Jillian was about to explain, Ruth waved her hand dismissively. “Shut up! I feel sick just listening to you! Our university will not dare to keep a student like you around. Prepare yourself to drop out."

Jillian felt as if she was struck by a bolt from the blue. No, I can’t let that happen! Mom worked tirelessly to send me to university! If I’m forced to drop out, I’m doomed!

“Professor Pierson, please give me a chance to explain. Things aren’t as they said. They really aren’t!” Left with no other choice, Jillian pleaded earnestly.

However, Ruth appeared utterly weary of her. “Enough with your pity act! What more is there to say about women like you? Leave!”

After that, she turned her gaze to the young men. “Also, don’t assume you lot are off the hook just because you’re the victims. You’ll all be penalized accordingly!”

After saying that, she chased everyone out of her office. With that, she considered the matter closed.

The guys looked at Jillian, snickering. “Jillian, this is what you get for not cooperating with us!”

Jillian was already furious and couldn’t help but bellow, “Get out!”

The guys were frightened, muttered under their breath about their bad luck, and immediately scampered off.

The following day, as soon as Madelyn arrived at campus, she saw a crowd gathered in front of the bulletin board. What happened again? Intrigued, Madelyn pushed her way forward and saw a notice of the disciplinary actions against Jillian and those who bullied her on the bulletin board. Jillian was officially expelled from the university due to her involvement in leading her male classmates astray, thereby damaging the university’s reputation. Madelyn didn’t expect the guys who bullied Jillian to be framed as the victims and were only given a demerit.

How could this happen? After reading that notice, Madelyn scowled. I didn’t expect this matter would develop in such a disgraceful manner! To think those jerks would have the audacity to claim they were the victims after doing such a despicable thing!

Following that, Madelyn asked around about the situation.

When her train of thought ended there, Madelyn was filled with indignation, and without any hesitation, she headed straight for Ruth’s office.

“Professor Pierson, you’ve misunderstood Jillian. She’s been falsely accused! Those guys were lying," Madelyn asserted as soon as she stepped through the door.

Upon seeing Madelyn burst in shouting, Ruth immediately pushed up her glasses in dissatisfaction. “It’s not up to you to say if they’re lying or not. Those guys unanimously believed Jillian seduced them. Are you saying they’re mistaken?”

Upon hearing those words, Madelyn was enraged. “Are you seriously just going to believe one side of the story?”

“Is this how you speak to your professor?” Ruth suddenly exclaimed in fury.

In response, Madelyn forced herself to take a deep breath and compose herself. “Professor Pierson, if you don’t believe me, I have a video of what happened back then that can prove Jillian’s innocence.” As Madelyn spoke, she pulled out her own cell phone from her pocket.

When Ruth heard that, her expression instantly changed. “Show me the video.”

Madelyn promptly played the video and handed the phone over to Ruth.

To her surprise, Ruth sneered after watching the video and abruptly deleted it!

“What are you doing?” Madelyn exclaimed in surprise.

Ruth seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, chuckling. “It’s just a video. It doesn’t really prove anything.”

“You!” Madelyn stared at Ruth, completely unable to comprehend the latter’s actions.

Yet, Ruth stated at ease. “Madelyn, I suggest you focus on your own affairs. Jillian’s expulsion from the university is now inevitable. There’s nothing you can change about it. If you’re serious about graduating, you should prioritize your studies. You’re behind on so many credit hours, and if you end up not graduating, don’t blame me for your irresponsibility.”

After she had spoken, she turned around and returned to her seat, acting as if nothing had happened.
