Chapter 78: Surprisingly Disgraceful
Afternoon had arrived.
Although those who went to the grove didnโt get to witness the scandal involving Jillian, when they recalled the sight of those young men sitting on the ground in a pathetic state, they filled in the gaps with their imagination. Gradually, rumors about it still spread. Various speculations on the forum were twisted into a means of mocking Jillian.
โDo you all remember those guys from earlier and how exhausted they looked at that time? I bet they must have just finished their deeds!โ
โI initially thought Jillian was a sugar baby, but who wouldโve guessed sheโd turn out to be a promiscuous woman?โ
Some like her tarnish the reputation of our university.โ
News of the incident spread like wildfire, eventually reaching Ruthโs ears.
Ruth was instantly infuriated, slamming her hand on the table. โBring Jillian to me!โ
At that moment, Jillian was diligently reviewing her lessons in the classroom. Madelyn had gone to the kickboxing gym. Before she left, she told Jillian that a clean hand wanted no washing and to ignore what other people were saying, which comforted the latter.
Therefore, when Ruth suddenly wanted to meet her again, Jillian had a bad feeling.
Unfortunately, Jillian had no choice but to bite the bullet and heed Ruthโs summons. Upon entering the office, she noticed she wasnโt the only one who had been summoned. Several guys were standing in the office, the very ones who bullied her. Jillian felt her heart lurch.
At that moment, Ruth suddenly asked in a serious tone, โJillian, tell me the truth. What exactly happened today?โ
Jillian felt a sudden unease, pausing for a moment before speaking the truth. โToday, as I was walking on the street, I was inexplicably pulled into a grove by these guys, and thenโโ
Before she could finish speaking, she was suddenly interrupted by one of the guys there.
The guy pointed at her and exclaimed, โJillian, youโre lying!โ
The others added, โYou were the one who invited us, suggesting we all go study in the grove. However, once we arrived there, you seduced us into doing those things with you!โ
Jillian was instantly taken aback, her eyes widening in shock. โYouโre lying!โ
Then, she quickly explained, โProfessor Pierson, I didnโt do it. It was them. They dragged me into thisโฆโ
โEnough!โ Ruth suddenly shouted in anger.
Then, with a scornful look, she stared at Jillian. "Theyโre all telling the same story, so I donโt believe theyโre lying. Jillian, there have already been rumors about you, and now youโve done something like this. Youโve completely disgraced our class!โ
What? How did I become the bar instead of them? Jillian looked at Ruth, baffled. No, thatโs not how things are at all!
Just as Jillian was about to explain, Ruth waved her hand dismissively. โShut up! I feel sick just listening to you! Our university will not dare to keep a student like you around. Prepare yourself to drop out."
Jillian felt as if she was struck by a bolt from the blue. No, I canโt let that happen! Mom worked tirelessly to send me to university! If Iโm forced to drop out, Iโm doomed!
โProfessor Pierson, please give me a chance to explain. Things arenโt as they said. They really arenโt!โ Left with no other choice, Jillian pleaded earnestly.
However, Ruth appeared utterly weary of her. โEnough with your pity act! What more is there to say about women like you? Leave!โ
After that, she turned her gaze to the young men. โAlso, donโt assume you lot are off the hook just because youโre the victims. Youโll all be penalized accordingly!โ
After saying that, she chased everyone out of her office. With that, she considered the matter closed.
The guys looked at Jillian, snickering. โJillian, this is what you get for not cooperating with us!โ
Jillian was already furious and couldnโt help but bellow, โGet out!โ
The guys were frightened, muttered under their breath about their bad luck, and immediately scampered off.
The following day, as soon as Madelyn arrived at campus, she saw a crowd gathered in front of the bulletin board. What happened again? Intrigued, Madelyn pushed her way forward and saw a notice of the disciplinary actions against Jillian and those who bullied her on the bulletin board. Jillian was officially expelled from the university due to her involvement in leading her male classmates astray, thereby damaging the universityโs reputation. Madelyn didnโt expect the guys who bullied Jillian to be framed as the victims and were only given a demerit.
How could this happen? After reading that notice, Madelyn scowled. I didnโt expect this matter would develop in such a disgraceful manner! To think those jerks would have the audacity to claim they were the victims after doing such a despicable thing!
Following that, Madelyn asked around about the situation.
When her train of thought ended there, Madelyn was filled with indignation, and without any hesitation, she headed straight for Ruthโs office.
โProfessor Pierson, youโve misunderstood Jillian. Sheโs been falsely accused! Those guys were lying," Madelyn asserted as soon as she stepped through the door.
Upon seeing Madelyn burst in shouting, Ruth immediately pushed up her glasses in dissatisfaction. โItโs not up to you to say if theyโre lying or not. Those guys unanimously believed Jillian seduced them. Are you saying theyโre mistaken?โ
Upon hearing those words, Madelyn was enraged. โAre you seriously just going to believe one side of the story?โ
โIs this how you speak to your professor?โ Ruth suddenly exclaimed in fury.
In response, Madelyn forced herself to take a deep breath and compose herself. โProfessor Pierson, if you donโt believe me, I have a video of what happened back then that can prove Jillianโs innocence.โ As Madelyn spoke, she pulled out her own cell phone from her pocket.
When Ruth heard that, her expression instantly changed. โShow me the video.โ
Madelyn promptly played the video and handed the phone over to Ruth.
To her surprise, Ruth sneered after watching the video and abruptly deleted it!
โWhat are you doing?โ Madelyn exclaimed in surprise.
Ruth seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, chuckling. โItโs just a video. It doesnโt really prove anything.โ
โYou!โ Madelyn stared at Ruth, completely unable to comprehend the latterโs actions.
Yet, Ruth stated at ease. โMadelyn, I suggest you focus on your own affairs. Jillianโs expulsion from the university is now inevitable. Thereโs nothing you can change about it. If youโre serious about graduating, you should prioritize your studies. Youโre behind on so many credit hours, and if you end up not graduating, donโt blame me for your irresponsibility.โ
After she had spoken, she turned around and returned to her seat, acting as if nothing had happened.
