Chapter 96 Worried About Me

โ€œWhat on earth happened?โ€ Sebastian asked with a grim face.

โ€œNothing. I just accidentally bumped into something.โ€ Madelyn smiled and tried to pull her sleeve down to hide the injury.

โ€œDonโ€™t move,โ€ Sebastian insisted.

The bruise was glaringly obvious, a large swollen area. If it was just a bump, it wouldnโ€™t look like this.

He scoffed. โ€œThis injury clearly looks like someone hit you. How could it just be a bump?โ€

โ€œL.โ€ Madelyn faltered, feeling guilty but still insisted cheerfully, โ€œI wasnโ€™t hit, really. Itโ€™s just a bump, I swear!โ€

Sebastian sighed, realizing she wouldnโ€™t tell him the truth no matter how much he asked. Since she didnโ€™t want to say, there was no point in pressing further. He turned off the stove, gently took her hand, and led her to the couch. Then he went to get the first-aid kit and carefully applied medicine to her injury.

Seeing Sebastianโ€™s caring actions, Madelyn was pleased inwardly. Despite appearing aloof, Sebastian was still concerned about her. This thought made Madelyn feel a warm glow of joy.

As she was smiling despite being hurt, Sebastian frowned. โ€œHow can you still smile?โ€

โ€œWhy wouldnโ€™t I smile? Even though Iโ€™m injured, I have you,โ€ Madelyn replied playfully.

Sebastian snorted, โ€œYouโ€™re fearless until itโ€™s too late.โ€ He couldnโ€™t help but warn her, โ€œBe more careful in the future. What if you get seriously injured one day?โ€

Madelyn tilted her head playfully. โ€œThat wonโ€™t happen.โ€ She added, โ€œAnd besides, youโ€™ll save me, right?โ€

Sebastian snorted again. Seeing she hadnโ€™t learned her lesson, he deliberately applied more pressure while treating her wound.

โ€œOw! Sebastian, be gentle! It hurts,โ€ Madelyn cried out.

โ€œPity aboโ€”"

โ€œPity about what?โ€ Sebastian asked, puzzled.

โ€œThe dishes in the kitchen. I had three dishes planned, but I only managed to make oneโ€ฆโ€ Suddenly enthusiastic, she added, โ€œHow about I go finish the cooking after you finish applying the medicine?โ€

Sebastianโ€™s face darkened. โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œBut thereโ€™s only one dish,โ€ Madelyn protested, looking frustrated.

Sebastian closed the first-aid kit and said calmly, โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter. One dish is enough.โ€ He then put away the first-aid kit.

Then he walked over to the dining table, patiently savoring his meal. Madelyn followed him, watching him eat bite after bite. She couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œI havenโ€™t tasted it yet. Is it good?โ€

Sebastian replied blandly, โ€œItโ€™s edible.โ€

What? Just edible? Madelyn thought that she needed to improve her cooking skills.

Seeing her reaction, Sebastian couldnโ€™t help but smile a little. In truth, it was quite good.

After finishing the meal, Sebastian urged, โ€œItโ€™s late. You should go to bed.โ€

Madelyn obediently nodded and went upstairs.

This is good. As long as there are no misunderstandings between us, I can gradually get closer to him and earn his trust. Over time, any barriers between us will naturally dissolve. With these thoughts, Madelyn lay down in bed and had a good nightโ€™s sleep.

The next day, Madelyn went to university as usual. Upon arriving, she didnโ€™t go to her classroom but went straight to find Yadiel. She knocked on the door. Seeing it was her, Yadiel immediately let her in.

Madelyn got straight to the point. โ€œYadiel, about the favor I asked of you yesterday, has there been any progress?โ€

Yadiel nodded and said calmly, โ€œShe confessed to everything.โ€

โ€œWhat? Really? That was fast.โ€ Madelyn was very surprised. She was glad she had turned to him for help.

Madelyn then asked, โ€œWhat did she say? What was her attitude?โ€

โ€œAt first, she confessed all her wrongdoings,โ€ Yadiel began, recalling the scene. Ruth had stood before him, blushing and panicking, pleading for mercy.

โ€œYadiel, I really know I was wrong. I shouldnโ€™t have wronged the students and ruined their promising futures. Iโ€™m willing to change and start anew. Please forgive me. I will be a fair, just, and dedicated educator from now on. Please, Yadielโ€ฆโ€

Despite her pleas, Yadiel merely stared at her coldly. After thinking for a moment, he pretended to agree temporarily.

โ€œSince you sincerely want to change, I can let this go for now. But you need to reinstate Jillianโ€™s academic status. She canโ€™t be wronged for no reason.โ€

Hearing this, Ruth paled slightly but reluctantly agreed, โ€œOkay, I will help her reinstate her academic status."

Yadiel nodded and left.

โ€œWell done.โ€ Madelyn couldnโ€™t help but laugh upon hearing this. She imagined Ruth begging for mercy and felt a sense of satisfaction. However, she knew that old habits die hard. Judging by Ruthโ€™s character, although she had seemingly relented this time, it certainly wasnโ€™t sincere. Even though she agreed, she might be playing dirty tricks behind the scenes.

Madelyn said, โ€œYadiel, I know Ruth. Sheโ€™s not someone who gives up easily. Even though she agreed this time, it was out of desperation. Who knows what underhanded tricks she might pull next.โ€

Madelyn added, โ€œYadiel, I need to trouble you to keep an eye on Ruth for a few more days. Iโ€™m worried that if we let our guard down, sheโ€™ll cause more trouble.โ€

Yadiel understood Ruthโ€™s deceitful nature and readily agreed, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll keep a close watch on her.โ€

Madelyn smiled gratefully. โ€œSorry for always troubling you, Yadiel.โ€

Yadiel didnโ€™t mind at all. He gently ruffled her hair and smiled warmly. โ€œSilly girl, donโ€™t worry about troubling me. Youโ€™re my friend, so itโ€™s only natural for me to help you.โ€

โ€œThen I guess I owe you another meal.โ€

Madelyn chuckled lightly, prompting Yadiel to join in with a laugh as well.
