Felicia scanned the list of companies again, but Jupiter Group was absent. It made sense; in her previous life, the conglomerate had been a struggling startup, unlikely to qualify for this high-profile event. Setting aside the thought, she surveyed the other projects.
A cool voice interrupted her. "What are you doing here?"
Felicia recognized Arnold's signature scowl. Normally, she would have dismissed him, but today was different. She wasn't just attending the conference; she was here to outmaneuver him, to secure the investments that had fueled his success in her past life. A mischievous smile played on her lips.
Arnold froze, momentarily caught off guard. Was she… happy to see him? He felt a flicker of unexpected pleasure.
Before he could dwell on it, Sebastian intervened, placing a protective arm around Felicia. "Let's go, Licia. I'll help you find a seat. No need to waste your time with strangers."
"Strangers?" Arnold's expression darkened. Sebastian's dismissive tone stung.
Impulsively, Arnold grabbed Felicia's arm. She found herself caught between Sebastian and Arnold. Rolling her eyes, she freed herself. "You two continue. I'll find a seat myself."
She left them, their cold stares following her.
Sebastian broke the silence. "Arnold, what's the meaning of this? Are you seriously trying to grab my sister in front of me?"
Arnold didn't back down. "What's the problem? Felicia is my fiancée, after all."
Sebastian laughed, a mixture of disbelief and mockery. "You're joking, right? That engagement was a laughingstock. And your behavior has been the biggest joke of all."
Arnold bristled, giving Sebastian an opening. "Tell me, Arnold," Sebastian continued, his voice laced with disdain, "which sister are you referring to? Felicia, or the one you're ambiguously close to—Kayla?"
Arnold's composure faltered. Sebastian's gaze sharpened. "You can't have it both ways. Don't call Felicia your fiancée when you're flirting with Kayla. Do you think I'm blind? Or stupid?"
"I've always treated Kayla like a sister," Arnold argued weakly.
Sebastian snorted. "Do you believe that?" His refined features hardened with anger.
Arnold tried to control his temper. "You're blowing this out of proportion. How long have we known each other? Don't let this come between us—"
"If you truly see Kayla as a sister, then stop acting ambiguously with her. Don't give anyone—especially her—the wrong idea."
