Olivia slammed her hand on the table, furious. "Dad, are you seeing that shameless woman behind Mom's back again?"
Lewis replied sheepishly, "Don't say it like thatโshe's Arely..."
"Bah!" she sneered. "Wait here. I'm going to bring her here right now! We'll see if she's behind all this!"
With that, she stormed off with her bodyguards, pausing midway to grab Lewis's phone. She rifled through his contacts until she found a name saved as "Sweetheart." Smirking, she used his tone to message Arely and arrange a meeting.
Lewis stood stunned. "O-Olivia, Arely would never do something like that! Come back!"
She ignored him and turned to Felicia. "Please watch over my dad until I return. I'm worried he might have another attack."
Felicia nodded. "Don't worry. He's in my clinic; I'll ensure nothing happens."
Relieved, Olivia left with her bodyguards. Meanwhile, Lewis repeatedly tried to get up and follow her, only to be firmly restrained by eight physicians. He was frantic. "I have to go! They'll start fighting! I need to help!"
One physician chuckled. "Help, you say? Mr. Adler, your 'Sweetheart' is on one side, and your daughter on the other. Whom do you plan to help?"
"My daughter, of course!" Lewis replied without hesitation. "Let me go! I can help!"
But as the physicians struggled to restrain him, he suffered another attack. His eyes rolled back; he was on the verge of biting his tongue and convulsing.
Clicking her tongue, Felicia stepped forward to administer more acupuncture. Lewis finally lay still, slumped weakly on the bed. "Ms. Fuller, what happens if this venom remains? Did someone try to kill me?" He knew the answer. One attack was already this intense; the venom's presence meant certain death.
Heartbroken, he thought of the person who had cursed him. "I treated her so well. How could she do this?"
Olivia returned in less than half an hour, dragging Arely with her. Arely carried the primordial curse. Before the truth emerged, a sliver of hope remained. He wished he was wrong about her. But with undeniable proof, self-deception was impossible.
Lewis sighed deeply, his eyes glistening. "Why would you do this to me?"
Pinned by two bodyguards, Arely stared mockingly at Olivia. "You should ask your precious daughter!"
Olivia scoffed. "What? Why blame me now?"
"If not for you, Lewis and I would be together! If not for you, I wouldn't hate you both so much!" Arely's voice rose to a near scream. "Olivia, your mother's been dead for ten years, yet you still won't let your dad remarry! Isn't this your fault?"
Olivia froze.
Arely turned to Lewis, hatred lacing her voice. "And you! I was two months pregnant, and you forced me to have an abortion for your precious daughter! You two deserve this suffering!"
