Listen to this chapter:

For years, Maurice had sought countless physicians to treat his leg, but none had succeeded. Finally, he dismissed them all with a curt command: "If you can't cure it, you might as well die." His subordinates, daring no argument, obediently asked, "Mr. Glovers, should we inform Mrs. Glovers Senior before going to Khogend?"

"No need. Let her focus on her prayers."

"Understood."

The next morning, a plane departed from Ablil for Khogend.

Meanwhile, a private jet landed smoothly at the Russell residence in Seldvale. Rows of luxury cars lined the tarmac, attended by well-trained bodyguards standing at attention, heads bowed in respect. At the forefront, surrounded by a protective detail, stood Imogen Russell, the eldest daughter of the Russell family.

Imogen was blind, yet her gaze possessed a gentle, watery quality. She emanated a serene grace, like moonlight. Clad in a simple crescent-white dress and white woolen coat, one hand rested gently on her slightly rounded belly. Sunlight illuminated her flawless face, enhancing her maternal radiance.

Hearing the plane land, she smiled, touching her belly and speaking to the child within: "Your Uncle Stephan is back. Are you happy?"

A young woman beside her smiled, replying, "We're about to see Uncle Stephan. The baby must be happy!"

"And you? Are you happy?" Imogen playfully nudged the young woman's arm.

The young woman blushed. Stamping her foot, she pouted, "Imogen, you're always teasing me!"

Imogen's smile faltered. A breeze stirred, bringing tears to her eyes as she whispered, "If only your brother were still here..."

"Imogen..."

"Let's not talk about that. Johanna, your brother may be gone, but I will always care for you," Imogen said, gently taking Johanna Rosario's hand. Johanna nodded, her eyes red, understanding Imogen's inability to see. "Imogen, I will always be by your side! And the baby too!"

"Mm." Imogen concealed her sorrow, joking, "You're the baby's aunt now, but soon you'll be the aunt-in-law!"

Johanna blushed even more intensely upon seeing the tall, handsome figure emerging from the plane. Her heart quickened.

In a low voice, she murmured, "Don't say that. Stephan may not like me. I'm afraid this is just wishful thinking..."

"Wishful thinking? You're excellent. You're so beautiful and clever. How could my brother not like you?" Imogen said confidently. "Besides, I raised him, so I'm like a mother to him. He wouldn't dare disobey me."

As she spoke, her sharp ears detected familiar footsteps. She immediately took a step forward, supported by Johanna to prevent a fall. Stephan, having disembarked the plane, quickly approached. "Imogen."

"I thought you'd lost your way home," Imogen said, feigning anger. "Look at you, not arriving on New Year's Eve. I would have been so lonely without Johanna's company."

Stephan explained, "According to the plan, I was to arrive last night, but a cold front caused a delay and detour."

Upon hearing this, her anger subsided. "Next time, don't rush home in such weather. If you can avoid flying, do so. Safety is paramount!"

"Got it." He readily agreed, but his thoughts drifted to Felicia. She was alone, pitiful, and lonely… He wondered if she had cried after he left, but quickly dismissed the thought, deeming her heartless.
