Listen to this chapter:

Maurice's men shot Felicia a look that could kill, their fists twitching. But then, realization dawned: harming her would rebound onto their boss. The risk was too great. They froze.

Meanwhile, Felicia dusted herself off, her clothes soaked and dirty from the crocodile and bear fiasco. She looked like she'd been dragged through a jungle, yet her confidence shone brighter than ever. Her gaze flicked to Maurice, his arms limp at his sides. She let out a soft, mocking sigh.

"Hey, Mr. Glovers," she began, her tone light yet mischievous. "Quick question: how do you plan on, uh, using the bathroom?"

Maurice's temple twitched.

Felicia blinked innocently. "Maybe try your feet? Oh, wait, those don't work either, huh?"

Her smirk, combined with her feigned innocence, was a perfect recipe for disaster. Maurice's patience snapped. His anger simmered, but his voice remained eerily calm.

Through gritted teeth, he asked, "When did you do it?" He wasn't asking if she had done something; he was asking when.

Ever since Felicia had been forced onto his private plane, she'd been under constant surveillance. Her room was monitored; Caesar observed every treatment session; even her tools were meticulously checked. There was seemingly no opportunityโ€”or so he thought.

"Oh, from the very start," Felicia said breezily. "Right after I boarded your plane and saw you. That's when the twin venomous creatures entered your system."

Upon being forced onto the plane, Felicia had noticed the Glovers family emblem, instantly identifying her captors. Escaping wouldn't be easy. Maurice had underestimated her, viewing her as a harmless young woman incapable of causing trouble. Even a knife wouldn't have worried him.

But Maurice had been profoundly wrong. The "bimbo" in his eyes had been carrying twin venomous creatures all along.

Felicia's revelation left Maurice staring at her as if seeing her for the first time. His usually calm gaze held genuine astonishmentโ€”a rare sight in the feared head of the Glovers family. Who would have thought the person he dismissed as insignificant would be his undoing?

"I underestimated you," he muttered, a hint of grudging admiration in his voice.

Felicia didn't gloat. Her calm demeanor spoke volumes. "All I want is to go home," she said, her gaze unwavering. The implication was clear: it was Maurice's kidnapping and broken promise that had caused this mess.

"I took your payment, so I won't ruin my reputation. I keep my word. If you let me go and promise to leave me alone, I'll keep my end of the bargain. I'll fix your legs, and we can both walk away from this."

Maurice tilted his head, his expression unreadable. "So, you've tied my life to yours, and I'm supposed to let you walk away while I babysit you for life?"

Felicia smiled faintly. "Well, it sounds dramatic, but yes, essentially. If I'm safe, you're safe. Win-win."

She delivered the line so matter-of-factly it almost sounded logical. Maurice raised an eyebrow.
