Listen to this chapter:

Kayla felt a wave of frustration. "This useless guy can't even handle such a small matter," she thought. "How dare he pursue me?" Just then, Doctor Osbert Cooper arrived.

Osbert's appearance was a lifeline for Kayla. She rushed forward, grasping his arm and urging him toward Felicia. "Dr. Cooper, please check her injuries. Are they serious or superficial?" Kayla desperately wanted to expose Felicia's deception. Her anxiety was clear to Dexter and Myra, who mistook it for sisterly concern and were relieved.

Felicia, of course, knew Kayla's intentions—to reveal her fabricated injuries. However, the scrapes and cuts did require attention, so she remained still.

Osbert examined the wounds. "These aren't deep," he said, "but there's dirt and sand. You'll need a bit of cleaning."

Felicia remained silent during the procedure. Myra, unable to watch, turned away.

Once finished, Kayla casually remarked, "Hmm... it doesn't seem serious."

Myra was about to rebuke her thoughtlessness when she remembered Kayla's earlier suggestion that Felicia might be faking her injuries. Before she could react, Osbert exclaimed, "Oh my god, there's a gunshot wound!"

Myra and Dexter whirled around. Felicia's pant leg was raised, revealing a gruesome injury beneath the removed bandage.

"Fortunately, the bullet was removed," Osbert said. "Otherwise, nearby nerves could have been damaged. The consequences would have been unimaginable."

After re-bandaging Felicia's wound, Osbert left. Kayla felt a mix of shock and confusion. How could Felicia have survived a gunshot? It seemed impossible.

Myra covered her mouth in disbelief, realizing the danger Felicia had faced the previous night while she herself had harbored malicious thoughts. Shame washed over her. Dexter made several calls, urging his team to investigate thoroughly.

Meanwhile, Myra ordered the kitchen to prepare food. Felicia, covered in blood, showered and changed before joining them. The maid served breakfast, including chicken soup Myra had personally made. "Here, Licia, eat this while it's warm. It will help your wounds heal." Felicia felt Myra's attentive care, but her heart remained cold. Myra's kindness always appeared when guilt consumed her, an attempt to atone for perceived failings. This kindness vanished instantly, however, whenever she clashed with Kayla.

Felicia stirred her soup, tilting her head. "What if we find out who's behind this?" she asked. "What will we do?"

"We'll make them pay," Myra and Dexter declared in unison. "No daughter of ours will be bullied like that." Felicia glanced at Kayla. "Really?"

"Absolutely," Myra replied firmly. "Licia, you must trust us."

Felicia simply shook her head.

Soon, Dexter's phone rang—the investigation results were in.
