The car door opened. Johanna quickly approached, her cheeks flushed, her voice soft and sweet. "Stephan, I'm fine. You don't need to worry."
Stephan glanced at her, his tone cold and impatient. "What are you doing here?"
She froze. Wasn't he here to find her? How could he not know she was here? Or had she been deluding herself? She couldn't tell the truth, so she whispered, "I... I heard there's a famous miracle healer at this medical center, so I came to see if she could help Imogen with her eyes, but... I was kicked out."
He showed no reaction. His face was expressionless, almost unsurprised. She wondered if she'd misread the situation.
Just then, Felicia emerged from the Union Clinic. Having received word of Maurice's arrival, she was eager to question him about the person orchestrating everything. She ran into Stephan at the entranceโhe had, in fact, come to find her.
She offered a brief greeting and attempted to pass him, but he gently pulled her back. Felicia checked the time, suppressing her impatience. "Is there something you need?"
From the sidelines, Johanna watched, her expression shifting from shock to astonishment, finally settling on intense jealousy and a sense of crisis. It was obvious something was happening between them! She remembered the phone call she'd overheard earlierโthe voice was strikingly similar to Felicia's. Initially, Felicia's beauty had distracted her, but now it all made sense. Her hands trembled slightly, her suppressed anger and jealousy apparent only to herself.
Stephan paused. "I need to talk to you about something. It's related to the Fuller family."
The hijacked ship, his loss, Archie's death... all pointed to the Fuller family, but he wasn't entirely convinced. He suspected manipulation, and he wanted to confirm his suspicions personally. He needed to discuss this with Felicia.
Felicia raised an eyebrow, glancing at the hidden Johanna. A trace of mockery and amusement played on her lips. "Mr. Russell, if you want to take action against the Fuller family, you don't need to inform me. I won't stop you, nor can I help." She brushed his hand aside.
Another car pulled upโa modified Lincoln. Maurice's face appeared in the lowered window. From a distance, he saw Stephan and Felicia, and instead of avoiding them, he whistled loudly. "Get in, baby," he called, his tone ambiguous.
Felicia was speechless, disgusted by the term "baby." "What a bastard!" she thought.
