Mike chuckled, cradling Sandra in his arms as he entered. Arnold returned from outside, respectfully greeting the seven-years-his-senior Mike with, "Uncle Mike."
Mike nodded, noticing something in Arnold's hands. "What do you have there?" he asked.
Arnold instinctively tried to hide it, then admitted, "Just some useless papers I was about to throw away."
Mike's scrutinizing gaze implied disbelief. Realizing he couldn't bluff, Arnold reluctantly revealed the documentsโFelicia's background information compiled by Matthew.
"What do you need this for?" Mike frowned.
"Nothing much. Just a look," Arnold replied calmly.
"Nothing else?"
"Nope." Arnold smiled. "Uncle Mike, why are you so interested? Worried I'll cause Felicia trouble?"
Mike's expression grew serious. He lowered his voice. "Arnold, I know you're unhappy about this engagement, feeling your freedom threatened, refusing to compromise. But directing your anger at her is irresponsible and shameful. Do you understand?"
Arnold's face shifted between anger and guilt. He clenched the papers. "Uncle Mike, this is my business." He clearly didn't want Mike's intervention.
Mike thought, What a stubborn fool. He scoffed. "Fine. As long as you don't regret it." He walked away, still holding Sandra.
Arnold watched him go, his expression darkening. A flicker of disdain crossed his features as he muttered, "Of course, I won't compromise. She should back off. If Felicia hadn't played her tricks, Matthew wouldn't have forced this marriage."
After eating, Felicia returned to the Fuller residence. Myra and Dexter beamed, holding an acceptance letter. "Kayla is outstanding! She breezed in," Myra exclaimed.
"She ranked third! Amazing!" Dexter added proudly.
Kayla, surrounded by her parents, smiled broadly. Her accomplishments were a source of pride. She noticed Felicia's return.
Quickly, Kayla said, "Mom, Dad, let's get Felicia into the same college! We can look out for each other." She seemed to have forgotten the recent slap. Her eagerness pleased her parents.
"Licia, what do you think?" they asked.
The college was Khogend's best, requiring exceptional academics or substantial connections. Kayla, assuming Felicia needed connections, felt her own superiority was evident.
Worried Felicia might be shy, Myra declared, "Darling, contact Mr. Dickinson, add Licia's name. We can donate to the dormitory expansion."
"Sure, sure!" Dexter immediately began making the call. Their comments revealed a lack of understanding of Felicia's past and capabilities.
