Listen to this chapter:

In their subconscious minds, Felicia's adoptive parents assumed she came from a rough background. They considered them lowlifes, and her brother, Shawn, had dropped out of school early to pursue quick money. Given this perceived environment, they assumed Felicia's academic abilities were poor and that her schools were subpar. They doubted she had even applied to college.

Therefore, even without Kayla's suggestion, they planned to ensure Felicia attended the same prestigious college as Kayla, believing it guaranteed the best education for both girls.

Felicia calmly replied, "No need."

Myra assumed Felicia worried about the cost of donating a dormitory building and laughed. "It's alright, Licia. This money is nothing compared to the exceptional education you'll receive. Your dad and I will support you." She added, "Felicia, are you worried about classmates teasing you for getting in through connections? Don't worry, I won't let them make fun of you."

Kayla was particularly enthusiastic, actively promoting the idea, seemingly genuinely wanting Felicia to attend the same college. Felicia smirked slightly; she understood Kayla perfectly. Kayla's eagerness likely stemmed from campus rumors, even before classes began.

This tactic was familiar to Felicia from a past life; to her, it seemed like a desperate, clumsy attempt to cause trouble.

As Felicia was about to respond, Dexter returned from his phone call, looking bewildered and disbelieving.

Myra exclaimed, "What did Mr. Dickinson say? Did he refuse Licia's application?"

"No, it's not that..." Dexter began.

"Then is one building insufficient? How many do they want?" Myra pressed.

"Not that either..." Dexter seemed lost in thought.

Myra grew anxious. "Then what do they mean? Tell us."

Dexter's gaze shifted to Felicia, his expression complex. He revealed that Blake Dickinson, upon hearing the offer of a building donation, had said, "Mr. Fuller, are you joking? Felicia scored first in the city to gain entry into Khogend College. She's exceptionally talented and has been a sought-after student since elementary school. We nearly fought with other colleges for her."

Blake added pointedly, "Mr. Fuller, as a parent, how could you not know your daughter's grades? I understand you're busy, but this is a significant neglect of your own child." Dexter felt utterly humiliated.

After hearing this, Myra gasped in disbelief, muttering, "No way..."

Kayla's eyes widened in shock. She ranked third in her school, while Felicia was first in the entire city. This was unbelievable. In her shock, Kayla immediately accused, "That can't be true. Did you bribe the invigilator? As far as I know, Howell and Tabitha wouldn't let you attend school, and they didn't pay a cent for your tuition. If you didn't cheat, how could you achieve first place?"

Felicia raised an eyebrow and smiled. "How do you know my biological parents didn't let me attend school or pay for my tuition?"

Kayla's impulsive outburst revealed much. Myra was stunned. "Is that true? How did I not know about this?"

Upon discovering her biological daughter had been switched at birth, Myra immediately located Felicia. After confirming paternity, she investigated Howell and his family's background, discovering they were lowlifes involved in scams and gambling. She remained unaware of Felicia's actual upbringing. She wondered how Kayla knew all this.
