The assistant replied with a cheerful smile, gesturing to the two trucks behind him. โYes, Ms. Fuller. Iโm honored you still remember me. Mr. Lawson asked me to deliver these as a housewarming gift.โ
The trucks were loaded with meticulously grown potted plants and trees, all undeniably rare and valuable.
Felicia raised an eyebrow, finding Mike rather amusing. His information was impressively swift; he even knew she had moved. Furthermore, his gift was considerate, generous, and unlikely to cause misunderstandings. There was no reason to refuse.
โMove them in,โ she instructed.
Once the pots were arranged in the otherwise empty yard, they added a vibrant touch of color to the serene and elegant landscape.
After Mike's assistant left, Felicia prepared to leave, but the interruption had delayed her delivery. Just as she was about to send it, she received a call.
Recently, Union Clinic had expanded its team to include more than eight highly skilled physicians. Many criticized Felicia for being heartless or for monopolizing talent, particularly after she recruited several renowned practitioners following Maurice's destruction of Harmony Medical Center. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn't have contacted her unless the patient was exceptionally difficult.
As Felicia hurried to hail a cab, she realized a serious problem: no cabs were available in this area. She had chosen this villa for its tranquility; while not in the city's outskirts, it wasn't in a bustling area either. Waiting for a cab would be a challenge. Although Felicia could drive, she lacked a license and hadn't bothered buying a car. It seemed she would need to soon.
While considering this, she pulled out her phone to book a ride. Just then, a Lincoln pulled up beside her, the window rolling down halfway to reveal Maurice's amused face.
โGet in. Iโll give you a ride.โ
Felicia was speechless, sensing his ill intentions. Ignoring him, she waited for her ride, which was only two minutes away, never glancing at Maurice.
However, Maurice remained unperturbed. He casually signaled his men to puncture the cab's tires upon its arrival.
Felicia turned, her temper flaring. โWhat do you want?โ she demanded.
โGet in. Iโll give you a ride,โ Maurice repeated, smiling mischievously.
The unfortunate driver was quickly silenced by a wad of cash from Maurice's subordinates. His reaction suggested surprise at his unexpected windfall rather than anger.
Felicia laughed, frustrated. She knew Maurice's audacity; he would continue sabotaging cars regardless of how many she booked. Left with no choice, she grudgingly got into his car, swallowing her frustration.
Satisfied, Maurice snapped his fingers, and the Lincoln smoothly started moving toward Felicia's provided address.
They arrived at Union Clinic, and Felicia exited. Maurice made no inappropriate advances during the journey, as if his sole intention had been to give her a ride.
Dumbfounded by his behavior, Felicia pointed to the clinic's sign. โWhy donโt you come in and register for an appointment?โ
Maurice burst into laughter. Fixing his intense gaze on her, his brown eyes deepening with emotion, he slyly countered, โCan you cure any illness?โ
Felicia felt uneasy under Mauriceโs intense stare, her scalp tingling. Dropping the pretense of subtle jabs, she turned and entered the clinic. Only the barrier of walls shielding her from his gaze brought a sense of relief.
