Chapter 429

The dynamic persisted until Felicia reached her apartment building, at which point Maurice ceased following her. Once inside, she immediately locked all doors and windows. Looking out, she saw Maurice still standing below. As if sensing her gaze, he raised his head and smiled. His expression was indistinct from a distance, but his demeanor remained indifferent, tinged with playful teasing. There was no hint of trickery or retaliation; he seemed genuinely concerned for her safety.

"He's crazy," Felicia murmured calmly, pulling the curtains shut. She found him far too unpredictable. His thoughts were inscrutable, his actions purely impulsive. Such a person was best kept at a distance.

Downstairs, Maurice lowered his head, aware of her rejection. The overhead light cast shadows on his sharp brows and high-bridged nose. He chuckled, then erupted into laughter.

His four subordinates exchanged bewildered glances. Their confusion was evident; they questioned his reaction to the situation.

After a time, Mauriceโ€™s laughter subsided. His lips flattened, his gaze sharpening. "What about those people following us? Have you handled them?"

"They've been dealt with, as per your orders, sir," a subordinate replied respectfully.

Unknown to Felicia, she had been targeted by multiple groups. Maurice's men had silently neutralized those who planned to harm her that night, leaving no trace.

Maurice returned to his car. "Let's go." The engine roared, and the vehicle vanished into the night.

Felicia slept soundly.

With warmer weather, renovations on Felicia's newly purchased villa were completed. She personally inspected the results, pleased with the outcome. The design, largely her own, mirrored her vision almost exactly.

On the day Khogend's flowers bloomed most vibrantly, the villa was ready. Felicia terminated her apartment lease and moved in with her modest belongings. Living alone might be lonely, but it was her space, a home solely hers. No one could ever exile her again.

On her first night, Felicia remembered the Fuller family's bankruptcy and the auction of their mansion. Her own wealth contrasted sharply with their destitution.

She retrieved two bank cards: one from Dexter, intended as pocket money (though dwarfed by Kayla's unlimited card and untouched by Felicia), and another from her grandfather, Clive, a one-time compensation for missed birthday gifts totaling several hundred thousand dollars.

Felicia decided to return the cards. However, the next day, she was surprised by the arrival of two delivery trucks laden with goods before she could arrange for their pickup. A courteous man approached. "Good day, Ms. Fuller." Recognizing him as Mike's driver from the night of Sandra's abduction, Felicia asked, "Are you from the Lawson family?"
