Listen to this chapter:

In a moment of desperation, Felicia picked up a mace and swung it at Maxoil. The weapon struck its target squarely on the back. The sharp spikes nearly severed Mason's flesh, leaving his back drenched in blood. He roared and shot Felicia a furious glare before growling, "You'll pay for this!" Mason and his two remaining lackeys, supporting each other, limped away.

With the immediate danger past, Felicia adjusted her cap and approached Myra and Dexter. Dressed in black and still bearing the scent of blood, Felicia's presence made Myra instinctively recoil. Myra's eyes reflected a mixture of relief, gratitude, and wariness. Felicia checked Dexter's pulse and sighed in relief; his injuries, while severeโ€”four fractured ribs, a serious head injury, and severe blood lossโ€”were external. Using her remaining silver needles, Felicia stabilized Dexter with acupuncture until he could receive emergency care. She then silently departed.

Myra stared blankly at the slender figure in black, a feeling of familiarity washing over her. Her lips quivered. "Wait," she said, her eyes reddening, "who are you?"

Felicia paused momentarily. The sound of approaching police sirens grew louder. Without hesitation, she quickened her pace and vanished into the darkness.

The police arrived swiftly, securing the scene and detaining the groaning thugs. An ambulance soon followed. As Dexter was loaded into the vehicle, Myra repeatedly glanced back into the darkness, searching. "Quickly! The patient needs emergency treatment!" a nurse urged, snapping Myra from her reverie.

Dexter arrived at the emergency room just in time. For eight hours, Myra waited anxiously. When the emergency room doors finally opened, she rushed forward. "Doctor, how is my husband? Is he out of danger?"

"Mrs. Fuller, your husband's condition is stable," the doctor replied. "Fortunately, someone administered acupuncture before he arrived, giving us the time we needed to save him."

Myra's mind flashed back to the figure in black, their face completely concealed. Without that person's intervention, Dexter might not have survived. She wondered who they could be.

Lost in thought, Myra didn't react until the doctor called her name twice. "Mrs. Fuller, one more important reminder: Mr. Fuller is stable, but his head injury is extremely serious. During his recovery, avoid any agitation."

"Alright. I understand. Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much," Myra said, clasping her hands.

The doctor nodded. "Mr. Fuller will be sent to the intensive care unit. Please remember to settle the payment."
