Chapter 533

The Russell family's remaining subordinates were stunned by the events they had just witnessed. It was insane, utterly reckless. But there was no time for reflection. The explosives on the opposite cliff demanded immediate attention. Stanley's team lacked manpower; reinforcements were crucial.

"Let's move! Clear the explosives!"

Using ropes, Stephan's men swung across to the opposite cliff. Joining Stanley and his group, they were confronted by several bombs, their indicator lights ominously bright. These were no ordinary bombs; they were remote-controlled. Whoever planted them could, from within range, detonate them, bringing down the entire cliff and burying everyone in the canyon below.

Who would do such a thing?

Stanley began disarming the first bomb, his hands steady, precise, and cautious. Even under immense pressure, he greeted the reinforcements casually: "Oh, you're here? How's Mr. Russell? And the madam? Are they okay?"

One man replied, "They're fine," his eyes twitching at Stanley's nonchalance. He added, "Stanley, please focus on the bomb! This is serious!"

"Oh, right." Stanley grinned, his expression suggesting he might repeat such behavior. They were long accustomed to his demeanor and trusted his competence; otherwise, they would have fled.

The teams regrouped and shared information. Upon learning Stephan and Felicia were in the canyon below, Stanley's brow furrowed, his hands moving faster. His joking ceased; his focus sharpened.

Without looking up, he instructed, "Leave this to me. Search the surrounding area for the bomber. Kill them if you can and secure the detonator."

"Got it!"

Half the group disarmed the bombs while the other searched for the bomber. Stanley successfully disarmed the first bomb, but instead of relief, he examined the device, his brow furrowing deeper. Something was amiss. The bomb's model was eerily familiarโ€”like a batch the Russell family had disposed of long ago.

This implied a mole within the family. Who planted the explosives? And who was the target? The more Stanley considered this, especially with Stephan in the canyon below, the more alarmed he became. If Stephan was the target, the detonation would collapse half the cliff, leaving no survivors.

"Damn it!" Stanley's expression darkened. "Hurry and disarm those bombs!"

Amidst the rustling rainforest, near a stream beneath a waterfall, Johanna clung to a man, her eyes brimming with tears, her nails digging into his back. The sky seemed to spin. Only after a long moment did their heavy breathing subside.

"Johannaโ€ฆ I missed you. I missed you so much," the man murmured, his hoarse voice filled with satisfaction and longing.
