Such a vengeful and cunning girl! Scarlet couldn't help but laugh as she watched Felicia walk away. She knew this mission wouldn't earn her a dime; in fact, she might even lose money.
Felicia exited the clinic, surrounded by eight seasoned physicians and their assistants. They bombarded her with questions about her condition, but she brushed them off with vague answers. She was a medicine expert; if she couldn't solve the problem, how could they?
After dismissing them, Felicia was about to check the medicine storage when a car pulled up. Before it fully stopped, someone jumped out. It was Stanley!
Felicia was surprised, then remembered she had vanished from the hospital three days prior without a word. Stephan was unaware and had likely searched everywhere. As she pondered, Stanley rushed toward her, his face a mix of relief and distress. "Mrs. Russell, I finally found you!"
Felicia glanced behind him, but Stephan wasn't there. "Where's Stephan? Is he still at the hospital, or has he returned to Seldvale?" The situation had been urgent; Imogen had gone into labor, forcing a hospital stop. The facilities were inadequate, and Felicia assumed they'd returned to Seldvale for Imogen's postpartum care.
Stanley nodded. "They've returned to Seldvale. Mr. Russell nearly lost his mind looking for you!" He glanced behind Felicia, noticing Scarlet, and grew cautious. "Mrs. Russell, what happened to you that day? Were you kidnapped?"
The hospital's security cameras hadn't captured everything. They only showed Scarlet carrying Felicia away, not the moment she lost consciousness.
Felicia shrugged. "She's a friend. I'm fine. Go back and tell Stephan I'll call him."
Stanley hesitated, lowering his voice. "Mr. Russell might not be able to answer right now. Seldvale is a mess, so he sent me to Khogend to check on you. He'll be fine as long as you're safe."
Felicia frowned. "Is he so busy he can't even answer the phone?"
"Yesโฆ" Stanley hung his head, his expression unreadable. "But maybe he'll still answer, depending on the situationโฆ"
What kind of ambiguous answer was that? Felicia found it amusing. "Fine. Just let him know I'm okay. You can go now."
"Okay." Stanley glanced at her, returned to the car, and sped off.
Scarlet, having watched the exchange, crossed her arms and approached Felicia. "He's lying, Mrs. Russell."
Felicia's eye twitched. Scarlet chuckled, about to tease Felicia further, but her expression shifted, her smile faltering. She quickly turned toward the corner of the street, a tense look on her face. "Who's there?"
