Could the Lawsons be any more disgusting and shameless? Even after Felicia repeatedly rejected the marriage proposal, they forced the alliance without her consent. They claimed to be her guardians, yet treated her as a mere object to be given away.
"Damn it!" Felicia cursed, tearing the wedding invitation to shreds. "Where's Mr. Lawson Senior? I want to see him!"
Arnold laughed coldly. "Felicia, you're smarter than most. You're calculating, manipulative—playing hard to get. You've got some moves." He believed she'd pursued Matthew to become a Lawson. "A brilliant move," he added.
Felicia felt dizzy with rage. Exhausted from a long night of acupuncture, she lacked the energy for a pointless argument. Ignoring Arnold, she headed for the Lawson residence to confront Matthew. Had saving his life earned her only betrayal?
Before she could leave, Arnold violently yanked her back. Her bag fell, spilling a needle case and a one-million-dollar check. Kayla gasped, noticing the check. "Felicia, you weren't home last night. Could it be that..." she paused dramatically. "Felicia, how could you do something so shameful? Mom and Dad would be heartbroken."
Kayla's implication of illicit affairs froze Arnold. He hissed, "Felicia Fuller! I'd rather bash my head in than marry a woman like you."
"Thank you," Felicia retorted, reclaiming the check from a reluctant Kayla. Kayla dodged her, shouting, "I have to tell Mom and Dad!"
Felicia, losing patience, grabbed Kayla's shoulder to retrieve the check. Kayla cried out, lost her balance, and fell, scraping her knees. Arnold, witnessing Kayla's fall, raged, "Felicia, you've disgraced yourself! Do you have no shame?" He raised his hand to strike her.
But a strong arm intercepted his blow. Arnold's expression changed upon seeing his uncle.
"Uncle Mike?"
