Listen to this chapter:

The man who had interjected was Mike. Arnold's expression was complex. Given their seven-year age difference, they were frequently compared in every aspect imaginable. The most common comment Arnold heard was that he would never have inherited the Lawson family business if Mike hadn't refused to manage it. This was the root of their conflict.

He took a deep breath and asked sarcastically, "Uncle Mike, how is it any of your business when I'm disciplining my fiancรฉe?"

Mike ignored him, turning to Felicia instead. "Would you like me to beat him up for you?" he asked.

Felicia blinked, surprised. She recognized those words from her past life. Then, Arnold had raged at Kayla, smashing things and raising his hand to strike her. Mike had intervened, addressing her with the same words and smile.

Snapping back to the present, Felicia replied, "You should let him go, or I won't get my chance."

Puzzled, Mike released Arnold. Without hesitation, Felicia punched him squarely in the left cheek, a direct response to his "How is it any of your business?" His arrogance deserved the blow.

Arnold winced, blood trickling from his mouth. Before he could react, Felicia landed another punch, this one in response to his raised hand. The last person to lay a hand on her was still hospitalized.

Flexing her wrist, Felicia said with contempt, "Next time you want to hit someone, gauge your skills first. Consider those two punches a lesson. No need to thank me."

Arnold's face darkened with fury. Felicia wondered how she could have ever been interested in such a person in her past life. She dismissed the thought.

Mike watched, his brows raised. Lawson heir training was rigorous, encompassing academics, abilities, and combat. Arnold's swift defeat by Felicia was shocking, though not unexpected given her prowess.

Felicia gathered her belongings, including the crumpled check she'd retrieved from Kayla, and headed toward the Lawson residence.

Mike directed her. "Mr. Lawson Senior is in the backyard. Go straight from here."

"Thanks," Felicia said. Pausing, she asked, "Why are you helping me?"

Mike clicked his tongue. "Maybe it's because I'm the only normal person among the Lawsons. Matthew is stubborn and authoritarian, refusing to listen. And while Arnold might appear polite, he's arrogant and haughty."
