The misunderstanding had been cleared up, but Telicia was still worried about Monkey's whereabouts. "I have one more companion missing," she said. "I need to find him. I'm leaving now."
As Felicia turned to leave, she saw that Jennifer's eyes were red.
"Felicia—" Jennifer sniffed, feeling she had so much to say. But when the words piled up, she couldn't bring herself to speak.
Felicia patted her head. "You should hurry home."
After saying this, Felicia led the way deeper into the forest. Scarlet immediately followed, and the other three mercenaries trailed closely behind. The group quickly disappeared into the night.
Jennifer wiped her tears. Without a word, she tried to follow, but Clark stopped her. "We have to go down the mountain, Jennifer. Look at you, you can't even stand properly; I need to take you to the hospital first."
"But…"
Jennifer looked in the direction Felicia had gone and cried out, "Felicia saved me. Her companion is missing because of me. I can't just accept that easily. I want to help too!"
Clark scratched his head, feeling helpless. He finally offered a compromise. "Okay, I'll go. You follow Captain Cortez and the others and leave, alright?"
As he finished speaking, Michael's voice rang out. He was ordering his subordinates, "Take them down the mountain. Make sure to guard all the rescued people. The rest of you, follow me. Let's check if there are any clues in this bomb shelter!"
With Michael's command, his team immediately split into two groups. One group escorted Jennifer and Clark down the mountain while the other followed Michael into the bomb shelter.
Jennifer kept glancing back, her thoughts clearly still with Felicia. Her eyes were full of admiration and gratitude. She couldn't stop thinking about how she wanted to help. She showered Felicia with so much praise and thanks that Clark started feeling jealous.
Meanwhile, Felicia had successfully arrived at the location indicated by Clark's tracker. It was a valley.
Scarlet's vision was excellent even in the dark. As soon as they reached the area near the red dot, she called out, "Found it! Over there!"
She pointed toward a spot in the valley. There, hanging from a massive redwood tree, was a human-shaped figure. Below that figure were more than a dozen wolves circling!
When the flashlight beam swept over them, the whole valley was filled with the glowing eyes of wolves, sending chills down their spines.
Felicia pulled a knife from her bag and said, "Let's go check it out."
The other mercenaries also drew their weapons. The group moved slowly toward the base of the redwood tree. The wolves bared their teeth, growling threateningly, but hesitated to approach, wary of the knives. The howling of wolves intensified.
When they got closer, Felicia looked up and saw that the person hanging from the tree was indeed Monkey. He was bound and suspended in the air, blood dripping down. He was nearly lifeless; his head hung low, his eyes closed.
Felicia quickly flicked her small knife upward, cutting the rope. With his restraints gone, Monkey fell straight down, but he was caught by two strong mercenaries.
She checked Monkey's pulse and breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, he was still alive. Felicia quickly took a bottle of medicine from her bag, poured two pills into Monkey's mouth, and swiftly used silver needles to prick several points on his body. She then applied bandages and sprinkled medicinal powder on his wounds to stop the bleeding.
While doing this, Felicia could clearly feel the wolves around them growing more agitated. The smell of Monkey's blood was drawing them in. They had likely been waiting here a long time, poised to pounce the moment Monkey fell. Now, they were thwarted. The howls of the wolves grew louder, filling the valley with glowing eyes.
