Chapter 27

In the Clyde family, Lucian announced, "Dad, Mom, I have a big project I want to work on, but I need some money."

"How much do you need? Is it reliable?" Caius Clyde asked.

"Yes, it's a large foreign company with an excellent reputation. If we partner with them, our family won't need to rely on the Oceania Group anymore, and I can make a comeback," Lucian replied.

Rosy was delighted. "Lucian, how much do you need?"

"Mom, I need at least two hundred million dollars."

"Two hundred million! That's not a small amount," Rosy hesitated.

"You have to spend money to make money. Risk and reward go hand in hand. I've done my research, so don't hesitate. You have to think big in business," Lucian said persuasively.

Caius immediately decided, "Okay, let's invest. We've invested hundreds of millions before, and business these days is all about billions. A few million is nothing. I'll transfer the company's available funds to you right away."

"Thank you, Dad," Lucian said with satisfaction.

Just then, Amelia returned.

"Amelia, where have you been?" Rosy asked.

"Mom, I went for a walk."

"You're always out shopping. The chauffeur says you buy things every day. We have money, but you can't keep spending recklessly," Rosy complained.

"Mom, I know I was wrong," Amelia mumbled, then suddenly began vomiting.

"Amelia, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Lucian asked immediately.

Rosy, experienced in such matters, stared at Amelia suspiciously. "Amelia, be honest with me, what's going on!"

Amelia confessed, "Mom, I think I'm pregnant."

"Pregnant? Who's the father?"

"Of course, it's Mr. Swanson's," Amelia whispered, too embarrassed to finish her sentence.

Caius laughed happily. "Good! Now Lucian has found a big project, and Amelia is pregnant. Let's see what else the Swansons can say. A marriage alliance with the Swansons is imperative. God is helping us!"

"Yes, it's all thanks to Amelia's good fortune. Although we lost the Oceania Group, Amelia brought us luck. Our family will be better and better," Lucian added.

At the hotel, Amelia, obeying her parents' wishes, asked Liam out. They sat and chatted; then Liam went to the bathroom. Amelia planned to tell him the good news upon his return. She gently stroked her belly, feeling like the happiest person in the world. Born into wealth and set to marry a wealthy man, it was a powerful alliance; she would enjoy endless wealth and honor.

As she daydreamed, she saw a familiar figure. "Isn't that Roy?" Amelia wondered. Roy was delivering food, carrying a cake ordered by a hotel guest.

Amelia's superiority complex resurfaced. She stepped forward and blocked Roy.

"Amelia Galvez, what a coincidence. You're here too," Roy said, surprised.

"I am not a Galvez; I'm Amelia Clyde. Please be clear," Amelia said coldly, her eyes full of disdain at Roy's attire.

"Well, Amelia Clyde. I was too excited; I haven't seen you in a long time. How have you been?" Roy asked with concern.

"Of course, I've been doing well. I'm living well, living in a big villa, going out in a luxury car—much better than when I was in the Galvez family," Amelia boasted.

Roy felt a bit sad. "Well, alright then. I wish you happiness. I still have deliveries to make. I'll be leaving."

Amelia deliberately knocked the cake from Roy's hand.

"Amelia, what are you doing?" Roy Galvez was angry.

"Nothing, I didn't mean to."

"You… you did that on purpose. Amelia Clyde, how could you do this? For goodness sake, we were like sisters, even though you're not part of the Galvez family anymore," Roy protested.

"Hah! Don't even mention it. The days I spent in the Galvez family were the worst of my life. I was born a wealthy heiress, and I had to suffer there. You and I are not sisters! You low-lifer!" Amelia sneered.

"You… you're so vicious!" Roy fumed, bending to pick up the cake.

Just then, Isabel came to the hotel to see Seraphina and witnessed the scene. Seeing her sister being bullied, Isabel wanted to intervene, but Seraphina held her back. "Don't go, I have an idea," Seraphina whispered, her eyes gleaming mischievously.

Before Roy could pick up the cake, Amelia even stepped on it again.

"Amelia, you've gone too far!" Roy's eyes turned red. She opened the cake box and saw the ruined dessert. Tears welled up as she considered how she would explain this to the customer. The monetary loss wasn't the main issue; delaying the customer's plans was a serious problem.

"Oh, isn't it just a lousy cake? If you like it so much, I can just pay you back. What's the big deal? Only lowly people like you would care," Amelia said deliberately.

Onlookers intervened, accusing Amelia.

"That's too much! How can there be such a person, deliberately making things difficult for people at the bottom!"

"That's right. Being a delivery person isn't easy. How can she do something like that!"

"That's going too far! I can't stand it! That woman is truly vicious, picking on those weaker than her!"

Everyone pointed at Amelia, but she didn't care. Seraphina then took out her phone and began recording. "If the princess wants to show off, I'll make her famous."

Seeing the condemnation, Amelia defiantly declared, "Am I wrong? Food delivery people are inherently low. If not, how could they deliver food?"

Her words only fueled the crowd's anger.

"Are those human words?"

"Yeah, aren't delivery guys human? It's just a different division of labor."

"What do you have? Besides relying on your parents and men, have you ever earned a penny by yourself? How dare you say that about others."

"Just looking at her makes me sick. Dressed like an upstart; she's never seen money before?"

Amelia panicked as everyone turned against her. Liam returned at that moment. Amelia immediately grabbed him. "Mr. Swanson, look at them; they're all bullying me."

"Oh, still acting coquettishly! She's definitely a temptress!"

"Ew! How shameless!"

"She has no shame!"

As the crowd reacted, Seraphina's pre-arranged barrage of objects was thrown at Amelia and Liam.

"The hotel manager is here!" someone shouted, as everyone made way. Amelia saw her supposed savior arrive.

"You are the hotel manager, right? Kick these rude people out right now! How dare they throw things at me! Damn it!" she exclaimed.
