Chapter 122

Daniella felt like she'd been struck by lightning. Stephen, who had once protected her so tenderly, was saying these things to her, and her mind went completely blank. She didn’t even notice when Stephen left. When she finally snapped back to reality, she felt cold to the bone.

“Dant, what’s wrong?” Christian came out of the house and saw her standing there, pale as a ghost. His voice was full of concern.

Daniella threw herself into his arms, sobbing quietly, “Stevie’s completely taking Abigail’s side now. I’m being framed. I’m really being framed. Abigail worked with the executives at Halden Group to destroy my reputation. I never photoshopped those pictures of her.”

Christian was the only person she had left to turn to.

Stephen wouldn’t believe her anymore, so she had to use Christian to get back at Abigail.

If the Gibson family kept warming up to Abigail one by one, they’d eventually throw her out completely. She’d become a real orphan then.

Daniella couldn’t stand the thought of ending up like that. ‘Damn Abigail. If she were dead, none of this would be happening. I’d be the Gibson family’s princess forever,’ she thought.

“That whole thing’s over now. You need to let it go,” Christian said flatly. “If she’s got enough pull to get Halden Group and Sebastian to go after you like that, you’ll never be able to prove your innocence. It’s basically impossible.”

Christian honestly didn’t care whether she’d actually done it or not. At this point, it didn’t matter. Too much time had passed, and nothing was going to change the fact that she’d been blacklisted in the industry.

The most important thing right now was that Wyatt needed to groom a new CEO, and Abigail was clearly his top choice. She was already working at Halden Group, and Sebastian obviously thought highly of her too.

If Wyatt had picked Abigail as his successor, eventually everyone in the Gibson family would have to answer to her.

Daniella’s voice broke as she spoke, “So I’m just supposed to take this lying down? Stevie’s got the wrong idea about me, and Ralph’s going to think the same thing soon enough. Those two are thick as thieves."

“Ralph won’t even marry me because of Abigail. If we’d gotten married, Grandpa wouldn’t think Dad was incompetent.”

“I’ll talk to Stevie about this. Whatever happens, we can’t let Abigail tear our family apart. Don’t get yourself too worked up over it.” Christian figured Stephen was just acting out of anger right now.

Stephen had just gotten out of jail because of Gabriel’s mess, so he had plenty of resentment to work through. Once he cooled off, he’d realize how rash he was being.

“Chris, please put in a good word for me. I really care about Stevie. I don’t want him to hate me.” Daniella looked up at Christian with tears streaming down her face.

The tears traced delicate paths down her cheeks to her chin, and her red-rimmed eyes and nose made her look heartbreakingly vulnerable.

Seeing her like this, Christian felt a wave of protectiveness wash over him. “I’ll talk to him, okay? Don’t cry about it.”

Daniella’s face crumpled with hurt as she nodded emphatically.

Seeing her looking so pitiful made Christian even angrier at Abigail. He’d heard that when Stephen was locked up, Abigail had gone to visit him with Ralph. Whatever she’d said to Stephen during that visit had clearly turned him against Daniella.

Abigail was just some newcomer, while Daniella was the refined young lady the Gibson family had spent years carefully raising. There was no way Abigail could replace Daniella.

As long as Christian was around, he’d make damn sure Abigail never got the upper hand over Daniella.

Back at the Office. Abigail suddenly sneezed.

Timothy, who’d been explaining the data sharing database, glanced over at her. “Oh, I forgot to mention, Mr. Robinson wants you to put together a summary of today’s meeting results and deliver it to the Victoria Grand Hotel after work.”

“Got it,” Abigail capped her pen and nodded while her colleagues watched.

“When the meeting wraps up, make sure your summary is thorough. You don’t want Mr. Robinson finding problems with it, or he’ll tear you apart.”

After Timothy dismissed everyone, Abigail and Leon left the conference room and returned to their desks.

They’d barely sat down when a male colleague made a snide comment. “Must be nice being a woman. You don’t have to work hard. You just get to go straight to the CEO’s hotel room.”

Leon looked over at him, clearly annoyed. “Why don’t you go get a sex change then? See if Mr. Robinson wants you in his office when you are a woman.”

“Kiss up all you want. A simp like you’ll still end up with nothing!” the male coworker said with a nasty grin.

Leon’s face turned red with anger.

Abigail looked at the male coworker, Trevor Hudson, and said calmly, “I just talked to Mr. Newman. You’re doing the meeting summary and going to Victoria to meet with Mr. Robinson. He agreed to it.”
