Chapter 122
Daniella felt like she'd been struck by lightning. Stephen, who had once protected her so tenderly, was saying these things to her, and her mind went completely blank. She didnโt even notice when Stephen left. When she finally snapped back to reality, she felt cold to the bone.
โDant, whatโs wrong?โ Christian came out of the house and saw her standing there, pale as a ghost. His voice was full of concern.
Daniella threw herself into his arms, sobbing quietly, โStevieโs completely taking Abigailโs side now. Iโm being framed. Iโm really being framed. Abigail worked with the executives at Halden Group to destroy my reputation. I never photoshopped those pictures of her.โ
Christian was the only person she had left to turn to.
Stephen wouldnโt believe her anymore, so she had to use Christian to get back at Abigail.
If the Gibson family kept warming up to Abigail one by one, theyโd eventually throw her out completely. Sheโd become a real orphan then.
Daniella couldnโt stand the thought of ending up like that. โDamn Abigail. If she were dead, none of this would be happening. Iโd be the Gibson familyโs princess forever,โ she thought.
โThat whole thingโs over now. You need to let it go,โ Christian said flatly. โIf sheโs got enough pull to get Halden Group and Sebastian to go after you like that, youโll never be able to prove your innocence. Itโs basically impossible.โ
Christian honestly didnโt care whether sheโd actually done it or not. At this point, it didnโt matter. Too much time had passed, and nothing was going to change the fact that sheโd been blacklisted in the industry.
The most important thing right now was that Wyatt needed to groom a new CEO, and Abigail was clearly his top choice. She was already working at Halden Group, and Sebastian obviously thought highly of her too.
If Wyatt had picked Abigail as his successor, eventually everyone in the Gibson family would have to answer to her.
Daniellaโs voice broke as she spoke, โSo Iโm just supposed to take this lying down? Stevieโs got the wrong idea about me, and Ralphโs going to think the same thing soon enough. Those two are thick as thieves."
โRalph wonโt even marry me because of Abigail. If weโd gotten married, Grandpa wouldnโt think Dad was incompetent.โ
โIโll talk to Stevie about this. Whatever happens, we canโt let Abigail tear our family apart. Donโt get yourself too worked up over it.โ Christian figured Stephen was just acting out of anger right now.
Stephen had just gotten out of jail because of Gabrielโs mess, so he had plenty of resentment to work through. Once he cooled off, heโd realize how rash he was being.
โChris, please put in a good word for me. I really care about Stevie. I donโt want him to hate me.โ Daniella looked up at Christian with tears streaming down her face.
The tears traced delicate paths down her cheeks to her chin, and her red-rimmed eyes and nose made her look heartbreakingly vulnerable.
Seeing her like this, Christian felt a wave of protectiveness wash over him. โIโll talk to him, okay? Donโt cry about it.โ
Daniellaโs face crumpled with hurt as she nodded emphatically.
Seeing her looking so pitiful made Christian even angrier at Abigail. Heโd heard that when Stephen was locked up, Abigail had gone to visit him with Ralph. Whatever sheโd said to Stephen during that visit had clearly turned him against Daniella.
Abigail was just some newcomer, while Daniella was the refined young lady the Gibson family had spent years carefully raising. There was no way Abigail could replace Daniella.
As long as Christian was around, heโd make damn sure Abigail never got the upper hand over Daniella.
Chapter 122
Back at the Office. Abigail suddenly sneezed.
Timothy, whoโd been explaining the data sharing database, glanced over at her. โOh, I forgot to mention, Mr. Robinson wants you to put together a summary of todayโs meeting results and deliver it to the Victoria Grand Hotel after work.โ
โGot it,โ Abigail capped her pen and nodded while her colleagues watched.
โWhen the meeting wraps up, make sure your summary is thorough. You donโt want Mr. Robinson finding problems with it, or heโll tear you apart.โ
After Timothy dismissed everyone, Abigail and Leon left the conference room and returned to their desks.
Theyโd barely sat down when a male colleague made a snide comment. โMust be nice being a woman. You donโt have to work hard. You just get to go straight to the CEOโs hotel room.โ
Leon looked over at him, clearly annoyed. โWhy donโt you go get a sex change then? See if Mr. Robinson wants you in his office when you are a woman.โ
โKiss up all you want. A simp like youโll still end up with nothing!โ the male coworker said with a nasty grin.
Leonโs face turned red with anger.
Abigail looked at the male coworker, Trevor Hudson, and said calmly, โI just talked to Mr. Newman. Youโre doing the meeting summary and going to Victoria to meet with Mr. Robinson. He agreed to it.โ
