Abigail told James, "I've fed stray cats. When stray cats see some people, they show fear and resistance. For instance, they are scared of Stephen."
She thought of how all the cats in the villa had gathered around Sebastian at noon to sleep. He always seemed so indifferent and distant, showing no patience for anyone, yet he allowed cats to sleep right on his chest.
Just seeing Orange curled up in his arms asleep made it clear to Abigail that the cat liked Sebastian. Last night, when he entered the bedroom, Orange even slept next to him. Sebastian didnโt mind the cats at allโhe even responded to Orange affectionately.
The love animals give might seem insignificant to humans, even more so to someone busy like Sebastian.
But the way he treated the cats made Abigail feel that although he was hard to approach on the outside, deep down, he must be a gentle and attentive person.
James laughed when he heard her say this. โReally? Well, Stephen is definitely annoying."
Abigail nodded in strong agreement.
"Seb doesnโt stay here much; you know how busy he is with work. If you ever feel uncomfortable at home, just come stay here. He likes you, anyway. You can come here anytimeโmake this place your home,โ James said.
He held a cat and squeezed its soft paw pads. The cat, annoyed, turned and bit him, making him yelp.
Watching the cat kick his face before running off, Abigail couldnโt help but laugh. โYou have to be gentle with cats. Their paw pads are very sensitive.โ
โBut the pads feel amazing. This cat just has a bad temper,โ James said, rubbing his face. Then he sat down beside her and added, โSo, what do you think about what I said?"
โIf he doesnโt come, Iโll come stay with the cats,โ Abigail said softly, her cheeks slightly red.
James figured she probably liked Sebastian too but was too shy to admit it. More importantly, the wounds left by the Gibson family had made her wary of others. โSo if he comes, you wonโt?โ James teased.
โItโs not good for me to stay here all the time,โ Abigail said.
โThereโs nothing wrong with it. Just try it out. If it doesnโt work, just break upโnothing to lose.โ James lay on the grass, looking up at the sky.
โIโm not going to brag about Seb too much, but the guy looks great, and heโs got a bunch of cats. As long as you want, any of his places could be your home,โ he added.
After a long pause, Abigail said, โI donโt want to be in a relationship right now. Things are fine the way they are.โ
โThatโs fine. Situationships are the most unforgettable,โ James said, pushing himself up. Then he added, โI have to head back. Thereโs a party at my place today, so I canโt keep you company.โ
โItโs okay. Iโve got these cats,โ Abigail said. In truth, she didnโt feel entirely at ease around Sebastianโs friends either.
They always asked about her feelings for Sebastianโsomething she didnโt know how to answer.
Abigail also wanted to see Clark and talk to him about Sebastian.
โOh, you break my heart. Am I really less cute than these cats?โ James said with mock hurt.
Abigail couldnโt help but retort, โYou really have the nerve to compare yourself to these adorable cats?โ
โSo Iโm really not as cute as them?โ James asked, pretending to be shocked.
Chapter 174
Abigail answered, โHumans are, of course, not as cute as cats. Cats have soft paw pads and squishy bodies, and they smell good. You have none of that, so leave.โ
She had bought a tablet today, just to spend her day off painting. These past few days had been a burst of inspiration.
James was mercilessly kicked out. At the gate, he took a photo of Abigail holding Code and surrounded by a bunch of cats, then sent it to Sebastian abroad.
Abigail spent the whole afternoon lying on the grass, sketching the photo she had taken of Sebastiรกn at noon. She only finished the sketch when night fell.
When she got up, she found eleven cats lying around her. At that moment, even her breath felt joyful.
โYouโre all so cute,โ she whispered to the cats, then lay back down on the grass and continued coloring the sketch.
Sebastianโs home made her feel especially relaxedโunlike Gibson Villa. At the Gibson familyโs place, even the sound of arguments would make her feel unbearably agitated.
