Chapter 194
Abigail only found out about the drama between Daniella and the maids after waking up, when Wyatt and Stephen filled her in.
'No wonder Christian has been glaring at me like I've done something wrong,' she thought.
"Dad made me buy a DNA kit, worried she's hiding another phone somewhere," Stephen said, shooting Christian a look. "He's dead serious about getting to the truth of this DNA mess."
"Quit looking at me like that," Christian barked.
"Daniella wouldn't be in this deep hole if you hadn't gone off on the maid without thinking. Those maids have worked here forever. They've seen every shady thing she's done."
"Now that she's fallen from grace, of course they're piling on. Why can't you just ignore it?" Stephen's voice dripped with indifference.
"Ignore it? They're lying through their teeth, and I heard every false word," Christian roared.
Abigail scowled at their shouting match. "You two done eating? This constant arguing is killing my appetite."
Before Christian could fire back, Stephen grabbed his arm. "Let's take this outside."
After they left, Abigail silently picked at her breakfast.
Wyatt came down the stairs, on his way to the office. He stopped to sit next to her. "Your father arranged for a doctor to come draw blood. The samples will go straight to the lab for testing."
Abigail just hummed in response.
If Gabriel and Bianca weren't her real parents, she'd walk out the door.
"Grandpa, if I'm not part of the family, don't bother with the shares," she'd already decided. If Daniella turned out to be Gabriel and Bianca's biological daughter, Daniella would only take out all the harsh treatment she's endured these days on her.
That was how the Gibson family operated. Once they labeled someone a villain, they'd make their life miserable.
"You deserve them even more. You're not family, but you've suffered because of us. If you don't want the shares, we can cash them out. Once the company profits, I'll pay you back gradually," Wyatt said softly.
Abigail was quiet for a moment before nodding.
When the doctor came, everyone was there except Wyatt.
Abigail had her blood drawn.
At the sight of the syringe, Daniella started thrashing uncontrollably. "No, I refuse!"
Gabriel frowned at the maids. "Hold her still."
Her panic only deepened his suspicionโhad Daniella messed with things as a kid?
'How could someone so young throw the family into chaos?' he wondered.
Christian watched her crying and struggling, her once-silky hair stuck to her face. Suppressed anger burned in his eyes.
'This is all Abigail's fault for returning,' he thought.
He didn't care about blood, only about who'd grown up with him.
After the blood draw, Daniella went limp, sinking to the floor. She cried silently, and then a mocking laugh broke out, starting low and rising.
"I'm going to the hospital with you," Gabriel told the doctor. "I'll supervise the testing. Name your fee."
The doctor nodded, giving a sad glance to Daniella who was laughing and sobbing on the floor, then let out a sigh.
In a rich family like this, forcing an adopted child to take a DNA test was bound to hurt.
Christian stepped forward and pulled her into a hug. "Dani, blood or not, you're my sisterโalways have been, always will be."
Stephen couldn't hold back. "She lied to us and did all those messed-up things, and you still call her family?"
"The results aren't even here yet. Cut the lying crap. I choose her. What's the problem?" Christian yelled.
He continued, "You're just after the money. Because Abigail's tied to Sebastian, you're ganging up to kick Dani out for her sake!"
"Damn right we are. How much has this adopted kid cost us? What did we ever do to her so that she had to screw over our real daughter?"
"When you point fingers, ask her why she did it. If she hadn't messed with Abigail years ago, they'd be thick as thieves by now." Gabriel stood, fury written all over his face.
Before Christian could retort, Gabriel shot him a cold glare. "Keep treating her like kin if you want. But hand over your shares and get the hell out, both of you."
Stephen opened his mouth to protest, but seeing Gabriel's rage, thought better of it and stayed quiet.
