Chapter 193

Christian saw firsthand how snobbish the maids were.

Daniella turned to Bianca with tears streaming down her face. โ€œMom, where am I supposed to live now?โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s an attic on the roof. Thatโ€™s your new place. Donโ€™t come down unless we say so. It has a bathroom and plenty of space. Move all your stuff up there today and keep it clean.โ€ Biancaโ€™s voice was ice-cold.

Daniella staggered back, almost falling over.

The maidโ€™s room was tiny, but at least someone waited on her there.

Christianโ€™s eyes red, he begged, โ€œMom, Dad, I was wrong. I wonโ€™t lose my temper anymore, I swear. It really wasnโ€™t her fault today.โ€

Gabriel cut him off, face stern. โ€œThese maids have worked here and taken care of her for over 20 years. Today everyoneโ€™s complaining about her. Donโ€™t you think that says something about who she is?โ€

Bianca pulled out her phone and transferred 7,000 dollars to the maid who was hurt as compensation.

Just then, Wyatt and Stephen came downstairs.

Stephen rubbed his eyes, looking confused. โ€œWhatโ€™s all the commotion so early?โ€

โ€œStevie, go grab her phone. Then buy a DNA kit and syringes.โ€ Gabriel was dead set on getting a DNA test today.

Daniella was still reeling from the sudden fall from grace. At Gabrielโ€™s words, her eyes filled with confusion.

โ€œGot it.โ€ Stephen instantly caught on.

โ€œWhich room is hers?โ€ he asked the maids as he reached the bottom of the stairs.

The maid whoโ€™d just gotten paid quickly said, โ€œIโ€™ll show you.โ€

As Stephen started following the maid to get Daniellaโ€™s phone, she grabbed his wrist.

โ€œStevie, please, talk to Mom and Dad. I know I messed up, I really do. I did spend the money. I bought an apartment for my favorite star and blew millions of dollars on games.

โ€œTo keep up my rich girl rep in the game, Iโ€™d drop over three million dollars on in-game events.โ€ She knelt on the floor, clutching his wrist and sobbing uncontrollably.

Stephen recoiled in disgust and wrenched his hand free.

Wyatt studied her with rheumy eyes for a long moment. โ€œWith all the coddling youโ€™ve had here, even the maids loathe you enough to keep a running tally of your misdeeds. That tells me your true nature is branded into their memories.โ€

With so many maids around, there was no hiding how sheโ€™d bullied Abigail.

And sheโ€™d done it brazenly, secure in her favored status.

The maids might be hired help, but they noticed everything and followed her lead.

Daniellaโ€™s sobs came out as choked gasps.

โ€œSure, youโ€™ll claim this is all a misunderstanding,โ€ Gabriel drawled. โ€œBut hereโ€™s the deal. Pray the DNA test proves youโ€™re our flesh and blood. If not, the atticโ€™s your new home, and youโ€™ll pay every cent back. Weโ€™ll audit every asset in your name.โ€

He let the threat hang. โ€œAbby took the rap for you, but the law doesnโ€™t care about scapegoats. This scandal was bound to blow up. Weโ€™d rather cut our losses and send you to jail.โ€

Daniella crumpled to the floor.

Bianca averted her gazeโ€”compassion warred with revulsion.

Last night sheโ€™d felt disappointment. Today, the maidsโ€™ accounts left her chilled.

โ€œI warned you,โ€ Gabriel said, stalking toward the sofa. โ€œIf these results donโ€™t match the ones from years ago, Iโ€™ll dig until I find the truth.

โ€œIn the meantime, pray youโ€™re innocent. Because if we had to send our real daughter to prison because of your lies, youโ€™ll wish youโ€™d never been born.โ€

Stephen trailed the maid into the maidsโ€™ quarters.

One by one, the family dispersed.

Daniella stayed kneeling, only snapping out when Christian called repeatedly.

โ€œChris, I messed up,โ€ she whimpered.

Christianโ€™s eyes welled with remorse. โ€œItโ€™s my fault. If I hadnโ€™t lost my temper, they wouldnโ€™t have turned on you.โ€

At that, Daniella erupted into gut-wrenching wails.

The grief was raw, the injustice palpable.

Sheโ€™d done nothing, said nothing, and yet theyโ€™d torn her life apart.

It has to be Abigailโ€™s doing. Those maids must be bought and paid for, she thought.
