Chapter 206
โThanks,โ Abigail murmured softly.
Sebastian drove her to Gibson Villa but didnโt leave. He followed her inside.
The arguing in the living room cut off abruptly.
Abigail looked at Wyatt sitting in the center of the sofa. โGrandpa, Iโm back,โ she called out.
Wyatt stood up, waving with a smile. โHave you two had dinner? Stay and eat with us if not.โ
โShe treated me to pasta. It was amazing. I dropped her off and thought Iโd check in on you, Mr. Wyatt Gibson,โ Sebastian said with a smile.
Gabriel immediately motioned for Stephen and Christian to make space. Bianca told a maid to pour coffee.
โAbby only took you to a pasta joint? You shouldโve called. We couldโve gone to a hotel,โ Gabriel said, all smiles and fawning.
Sebastianโs smile didnโt reach his eyes. โMr. Gabriel Gibson, do you look down on pasta joints? Even if you wanted that pasta, you might not get the chance.โ
Abigail felt a surge of satisfaction.
Thatโs how you put him in his place, she thought.
Gabriel looked awkward but forced a grin.
Sebastian despised his hypocrisy. Abigail just wanted genuine fatherly love, but that seemed impossible for them.
โWhich pasta joint? Maybe Abby can take me sometime,โ Stephen said sourly.
Though he often asked Sebastian for favors, he now saw Abigail as his precious sister.
No matter how great Sebastian was, his past reputation made him seem like a predator eyeing their lamb.
He could never see Sebastian in a good light.
โAre there not enough pasta joints in the city for you?โ Abigail shot back coldly.
Stephen pressed his lips and stayed quiet.
The maid brought coffee and stole a glance at Sebastian.
He was incredibly good-looking. No wonder even maids like her had heard of him.
Word was all the socialites loved him; he was handsome, fit, and absurdly generous to every girlfriend.
Sebastian didnโt touch the coffee. After chatting with Wyatt about the Gibson family business, he left.
Daniella was in the attic but knew Sebastian had personally driven Abigail back.
Now, his visit to Gibson Villa carried a completely different weight.
Once Abigailโs collaborator, he was now her boyfriend, and Daniella knew heโd soon be her fiancรฉ, then her husband.
Daniella burned with jealousy.
Sheโd had a thing for Sebastian once, even while into Ralph. She had to look out for herself.
At a party years back, sheโd tried to cozy up to him, but heโd blown her off completely.
That made her think he was impossible to get close to, that only a top-tier socialite would be good enough for him.
But reality had other plans. Heโd chosen Abigail. How could she stomach that?
As jealousy consumed Daniella, a knock came at the door.
She opened it to find the maid holding a tray, her eyes dripping with disdain.
โYou must have seen from the attic. Sebastian was here. You know what that means, right?โ The maid stepped inside with the food, but Daniella stayed mute.
Noticing her sullen look, the maid knew she was seething and pressed on, โHeโll be a Gibson family member soon, and the whole family will have to cater to him. Sebastian is a Chesterwick blue blood. Ralph doesnโt even come close.โ
โGet out if youโre finished,โ Daniella snapped.
The maid stayed put, setting down the tray and sneering at her. โYou were never Sebastianโs type. What does all the Gibson familyโs money buy? He just wasnโt into you.
โI saw him up close. Heโs drop-dead gorgeous. He and Ms. Abigail Gibson make a perfect pair. Letโs face it, knockoffs are still knockoffs, no matter how you dress them up. He wouldnโt give you a second glance.โ
Daniellaโs mind went blank with rage.
She snatched a chair and heaved it at the maid, who yelped and collapsed to the floor.
The next moment, Daniella flung down the chair, grabbed the maid by the hair, and began slapping her savagely. โWho the hell do you think you are? I used to be this familyโs heiress. How dare a servant like you insult me?โ
She slapped her over and over until her hand went numb.
When Christian, Stephen, Gabriel, and Bianca reached the attic door, they found Daniella crouched on the floor like a wild animal, her eyes burning with murderous rage at the maid.
