Chapter 518
Even he didnโt quite believe what he was saying.
But thankfully, the test results showed nothing, which gave him just enough ground to spout such bold claims.
Fortunately, Julian had at least made sure their plan was airtight. Otherwise, it wouldโve been impossible to keep the lie going.
The team of top doctors exchanged looks after hearing Jacksonโs statement. Though none of them said anything aloud, they couldn't deny that his reasoning made a certain amount of sense.
After leaving the office, they stood outside Auroraโs hospital room, hesitant and unsure of how to report this to Lucas.
After all, this was a situation none of them had ever encountered before. They lingered outside the room, pacing and quietly discussing what to do. It was clear they were at a loss.
Hearing the commotion, Lucas opened the door and saw all five of them standing there. His brows furrowed, his presence instantly commanding. โWhat are you all standing around for?โ
โMr. Carter, weโฆโ
The group looked at one another, uncertain of how to respond. Seeing their hesitation, Lucas already had a sense of what was going on. โWhat, you donโt have a solution either?โ
The five of them exchanged uneasy glances before lowering their heads in shame. Faced with his question, they genuinely had no answer.
โMr. Carter, to be honest, this is the first time weโve encountered a case like this. We really donโt know what to do.โ
Another added, โYes, we reviewed her test results thoroughly. Thereโs truly nothing unusual. Beyond that, thereโs not much we can offer.โ
Lucas felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. โTransfer her to another hospital.โ
The five of them exchanged looks again, then hesitantly brought up what Jackson had said.
โWe thinkโฆ his point was valid. Given Mrs. Carterโs current condition, any sudden movement could cause harm to her head and body. The safest course of action is to stay here under observation for now.โ
Lucasโ brow tightened. โThen, what the hell do I need you people for? A bunch of useless fools.โ
With that, he turned sharply and stormed back into the hospital room. Looking at Auroraโs serene, sleeping face, a heavy exhaustion settled deep in his chest.
It had been three days. Aurora had been lying here for three whole days, motionless.
And he hadnโt heard her voice once in all that time. The silence was suffocating. The world felt too still. He didnโt even know how to keep going like this.
He used to think her indifference toward him was painful enough. But now, he realized that what truly tore him apart was not hearing the lively, spirited Aurora at all. That silence was crushing.
Lucas took a deep breath. He had to look for specialists overseas. He couldnโt just sit here doing nothing.
Meanwhile, Kenneth had just arrived in Ravenshore. As he looked at the familiar cityscape, emotions stirred within him. He had once believed coming back would feel like a bright new chapter. At the very least, it shouldnโt have looked like this.
He had been dragged back at Lucasโ request. At first, he tried to stall. He didnโt even dare reply to Lucasโ messages. After all, theyโd known each other since they were kids. Surely Lucas wouldnโt go that far.
But he had underestimated him. Lucas had reached out to him overseas, threatening him directly. If he didnโt come back and take his sister away, he might as well never dream of seeing Wendy again in this lifetime.
