Kenneth looked at the message Lucas had sent him and sighed helplessly. There was no other choice. He packed his things and came back to Ravenshore.

At this point, even he had lost control over his own sister. She wouldn’t listen to a word he said. That wasn’t even the worst part–she’d gone as far as blocking him completely. The family was worried, but they didn’t know what else to do. At first, Kenneth had tried to reassure them.

He told them not to worry. After all, Wendy was with Lucas. She’d grown up following behind him, and now that she was in Lucas’ city, surely she’d be safe. Lucas wouldn’t mistreat her. But he hadn’t expected things to blow up like this. What had Wendy done in Ravenshore to make Lucas so furious? She was a guest in someone else’s home–couldn’t she have shown a little restraint? But no, she’d acted out so boldly. Now everything had spiraled out of control, and he had to come here in person to take her back overseas. Worse still, she had thrown both him and Lucas into the fire. They’d been close for years, and this was the first time things had ever soured between them. With everything Wendy had done, how was he supposed to face Lucas from now on? Just thinking about it gave Kenneth a splitting headache.

He took a cab straight to Lucas’ residence. It had been years since he was last in the country, and some things still felt unfamiliar. But they couldn’t let things keep going this way. He couldn’t just sit back and let Wendy stay in Lucas’ home unchecked. When Kenneth arrived, Wendy was sitting alone on the sofa.

She stared at the man who had just entered, dazed, her voice trembling as she murmured, “Brother? Am I hallucinating? Why would my brother be here?” Wendy slowly stood up, staggering toward Kenneth.

Watching her, Kenneth felt a deep ache in his chest. His lips parted in shock. Was this really his sister? The same sister who had been doing fine when he left home. Now, after just a short time in Ravenshore, she had withered into someone unrecognizable. Her body was frail, and her eyes looked lost; her entire state of mind seemed off.

Kenneth took two steps forward, heart aching. “Wendy, what happened to you?” She was his sister. How could he not feel devastated? She’d been their family’s treasure, cherished since childhood. Now, seeing her like this was unbearable. Even their parents would be crushed to see her like this. And just standing here, so was he.

Wendy had been thinking about the things Lucas had said to her these past two days. She had brushed them off as empty threats. But now, her brother stood right in front of her. Combined with what Lucas had warned her about, it couldn’t be more clear what this meant. The smile on Wendy’s face vanished instantly.

“No… You’re not my brother. Don’t come near me. I don’t know you!” She waved her hands frantically, her whole body trembling, spiraling into a state of panic. Kenneth was stunned, unable to understand her reaction. “I’m your brother! Wendy, what are you talking about?” He rushed forward and grabbed her by the shoulders, shaking her slightly, trying to snap her out of it. Tears streamed down Wendy’s face. She didn’t know what to say anymore.
