Chapter 225

Stephen found the whole situation ridiculous too. But part of him thought it might be for the best if Daniella was gone for good. At least then the family could have some peace. Maybe Christian would finally come to appreciate what he had with Abigail.

“What Daniella does with her life has nothing to do with me. Why would I speak to the Yanis family on their behalf?” Abigail stared at the back of his head and said coldly.

“If Mrs. Gibson made the promise, she can talk to Sebastian herself. What makes her think she has the right to ask me for help?” Abigail’s tone was merciless.

Stephen opened his mouth to defend Bianca, but Abigail cut him off. “I have to say, after all these years, you haven’t gotten any smarter.”

“What?” Stephen was completely lost. “How did this suddenly become about my intelligence?”

“It was me that Tristan’s mother offended at Ralph’s birthday party. That’s why Sebastian went after the Yanis family.”

Abigail’s voice was cold as she continued, “And now Mrs. Gibson is desperate to have Daniella marry into the Yanis family. You really think she wants to get rid of Daniella?”

Stephen blinked, completely lost. As he started the car, he asked, “What do you mean?”

“The Yanis family has money. They can help Daniella avoid prison.” Abigail’s laugh was bitter. “So Bianca wants me to convince Sebastian to back off from the Yanis family. They get everything they want, and what do I get?”

Abigail had thought it through. The more Bianca tried to save Daniella from prison, the more determined she became to destroy the entire Gibson family.

When everyone was crying, they would finally understand who was truly to blame.

Daniella had bullied her for years while Bianca looked the other way. Even when she couldn’t completely ignore it, she’d just give Daniella a mild scolding before reminding Abigail that she was the older sister and should be more understanding.

Without Bianca constantly covering for her, Daniella would never have become this way. What Abigail really wanted was for Daniella to turn against Bianca completely.

After hearing her analysis, Stephen slammed his fist on the steering wheel. “So she doesn’t want Daniella to go to prison at all?”

Then he remembered how pathetically Tristan fawned over Daniella. If she married him, maybe she really wouldn’t serve time.

“She’ll go to prison,” Abigail said quietly. “Just not for as long.”

Stephen’s anger flared. “Then don’t help! Helen had it coming with that mouth of hers. She deserves whatever she gets!”

Abigail stared at him in disbelief. He’d flip-flopped on her like a leaf in the wind, and she couldn’t find the words to respond.

Her face hardened as she fell silent.

Abigail and Stephen arrived at Gibson Villa together. The moment Bianca saw them enter, her eyes went straight to Stephen. Watching Bianca’s transparent behavior, Abigail found it almost laughable. She grabbed her bag and headed upstairs without a word.

Once she was in her room, Stephen finally confronted his mother, “You only care about what benefits you, and Dad just uses people. I keep you sharp, but treating me like your personal puppet? That’s too much.”

Bianca’s brow furrowed immediately. “What are you talking about? I told you Abby has issues with our family…”

“If you knew she had issues with us, why did you send me to convince her to get Sebastian to back off the Yanis family?”

Stephen’s eyes blazed with understanding. “Mom, you never wanted to send Daniella away. You want to marry her off to them and then hire a good lawyer to reduce her sentence, don’t you?”

He sneered, “I wondered why Daniella was ready to die rather than cooperate yesterday but suddenly changed her mind today.” Then he turned to leave for his room.

“Stephen, Dani’s your sister,” Bianca called after him, her eyes reddening. “Don’t you care about her at all? After all these years together, yes, she made mistakes, but we spoiled her. We turned her into this. We’re all to blame!”

Stephen shook his head. “Right, it’s my fault for being too good to her. That’s why she turned out so ungrateful. Is that what you want to hear?”

His voice dripped with sarcasm. “She gets hit, and you go soft. Just last night you were saying you were done with her, that she could do whatever she wanted. But the moment someone lays a hand on her, here you go again.”

His tone grew harsher. “So basically, Abigail deserves everything she gets? People mock her at Ralph’s birthday party and you can’t even stand up for her. Instead, you’re planning to marry into the family of the people who bullied her. What kind of mother does that?”

Bianca stood there speechless, unable to find a single word to defend herself.

“No wonder Abigail doesn’t see you as her mother. Hell, even I wonder how people like you and Dad had the nerve to get married and have kids in the first place!” With that final jab, he stormed up to the third floor.

Bianca remained frozen in place, her face drained of all color. She couldn’t pinpoint when the Gibson family had fallen apart like this.
