Chapter 226

Abigail was deep in her project work when Blanca walked into her room carrying a plate of fruit.

โ€œAbby, I cut some fruit for you.โ€ Bianca set the plate beside her, her voice dripping with false sweetness.

Abigail immediately switched screens on her laptop. Frowning, she glanced at the sliced cherries and asked coolly, โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you knock?โ€

Bianca had always treated people differently based on what she could get from them. Since sheโ€™d gotten used to barging into Abigailโ€™s room without knocking in the past, she still did it now.

โ€œSorry, I forgot,โ€ Bianca apologized quickly.

โ€œI donโ€™t like cherries. Take them away.โ€ Abigail wasnโ€™t picky about food, but she wanted nothing from Bianca.

Bianca remembered how Abigail used to love cherries more than anything. The Gibson family always bought those expensive imported onesโ€“big, sweet, and bursting with juice. There was no way she actually disliked them now.

Bianca sighed, โ€œAbby, I know Daniโ€™s situation puts you in a difficult position, but if no one helps her, sheโ€™s looking at over ten years in prison.

โ€œTen years would destroy any girlโ€™s life,โ€ she continued, knowing Abigail wouldnโ€™t want to hear it, but she had no one else to turn to.

Abigail found it laughable. โ€˜They think they can get away with it if Danielle gets in jail? They helped cover up evidence and tried to force me to take the blame. How can they possibly think Daniella will be the only one going to jail?โ€™

โ€œWhat does that have to do with me? Sheโ€™s nothing to me. Why should I speak up for her?โ€ Abigail shot back.

She wasnโ€™t in any hurry to kick Bianca out. She was curious to hear what other ridiculous things she might say.

Bianca froze, unable to argue with Abigailโ€™s logic.

Everything sheโ€™d suffered since returning to the Gibson family had been Daniellaโ€™s fault. If anyone wanted to see Daniella behind bars, it was her.

โ€œYouโ€™re right about that, but she lived with the Gibson family for so many years. She was my daughter for all those years. I canโ€™t bear to see her end up like this. Besides, sheโ€™s already been punished recently. Canโ€™t you help me just this once?โ€ Bianca pleaded.

In Biancaโ€™s mind, she was Abigailโ€™s mother. She had raised Daniella too and felt obligated to help her. Yet she never once considered how Abigail felt about her.

Abigail understood this perfectly well.

Bianca casually spoke those words, as if their blood tie gave her the right to manipulate and guilt-trip Abigail.

Abigail looked at Biancaโ€™s motherly act and laughed coldly. โ€œIf you want to play the loving mother, go ahead and do it yourself. Help you? Who do you think you are? I donโ€™t have a mother.โ€

Her words made Biancaโ€™s face change, anger rising in her chest.

Seeing Bianca getting angry, Abigail sneered, โ€œDonโ€™t act like youโ€™re the victim here. First of all, I grew up in an orphanage. From twelve to eighteen at the Gibson family, all I got was bullied.โ€

She continued, โ€œYou always took Daniellaโ€™s side and pushed me to take the fall for her. I canโ€™t remember a single kind thing you did for me. Now when you need something, suddenly you remember youโ€™re my mother?

โ€œWhere were you when I needed you?โ€ Abigailโ€™s last words came out barely above a whisper.

Bianca had been respected by Stephen and Christian for most of her life. Even when Daniella was being fake, she still showed her respect. Nobody had ever spoken to her with such disrespect!

Abigail sneered, โ€œWhen I got out of prison after being framed by Daniella, Gabriel wanted to sell me to Quentin. What did you say? You had a convict with no right to be picky.

โ€œDonโ€™t you people have any shame? You know exactly why I went to prison. You were all accomplices, yet you blame me for having a criminal conviction and for tarnishing the family name.โ€

Abigail stood up, grabbed the bowl of cherries from the table, and threw it at Biancaโ€™s feet.

Bianca jumped back in shock. The Abigail before her was emotionless.

โ€œHave some shame. Playing the moral guilt card every day gets old. You want my help? Fine. All of you go to the police station and tell them exactly how you forced me to take the fall for Daniellaโ€™s murder. Tell them everything.โ€

โ€œI promise you, Daniella will go to prison. No reduced sentence, no matter how good of a lawyer you find. I wonโ€™t let her off. Now get out!โ€

Bianca went pale with fear. โ€œYouโ€™re not just sending Daniella to prison?โ€

That only Daniella would be sent to prison, she was mistaken.

โ€œDonโ€™t forget, what you all did back then was criminal.โ€ Abigail stared at her with cold indifference. โ€œYou think using family ties to manipulate me will make me feel touched? It only makes me despise you more and want to see all of you punished.โ€
