Chapter 317

The car didnโ€™t stop and turned around quickly before driving off.

When Abigail returned to Gibson Villa, the maids looked at her with subtle curiosity in their eyes as they saw her coming back alone.

Abigail went straight to the maidโ€™s room and shut the door behind her.

After showering, she stepped out of the bathroom and picked up her phone. The message she had sent before going in was displayed on the screen.

Abigail: [The gemstone chess set is beautiful. My elder really liked it. Let me know how much it cost so I can pay you back.]

There was no reply. She figured maybe it hadnโ€™t been seen. Abigail didnโ€™t think much of it. She opened a website and started taking on new assignments with practiced ease.

A knock at the door interrupted her. She closed the screen and stood up to answer the door.

โ€œMs. Gibson, Mr. Gabriel Gibson asked me to bring you over.โ€ The maid gave her a subtle glance and left.

Abigail walked into the living room. Gabriel was wearing a long face, and the moment he saw her, he barked, โ€œWhat are you standing there for? Get over here.โ€

Abigail frowned slightly at him, her tone indifferent. โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

Gabrielโ€™s rage flared at her attitude. โ€œThatโ€™s how you talk to me?โ€

Abigail lowered her eyes, hiding the irritation behind them, โ€œIf thereโ€™s nothing else, Iโ€™m going back to my room.โ€

She turned to leave, but Gabrielโ€™s breathing grew heavier with anger. โ€œStop right there.โ€

Abigail halted and turned to him. Gabriel took a deep breath and spoke through clenched teeth, โ€œThe room upstairs has been cleaned out for you. Move.โ€

He was referring to the room that had been converted into Daniellaโ€™s walk-in closet.

Abigail shook her head. โ€œNo. Iโ€™m used to where I am.โ€ She would be gone once she saw Wyatt. Whether she moved or not didnโ€™t matter to her.

Gabriel grew even more annoyed. โ€œYouโ€™ll move because I told you to. Or do you want people thinking I made my biological daughter sleep in the maidโ€™sโ€ฆโ€

As soon as the words left his mouth, Daniellaโ€™s face went pale. She bit her lip and lowered her head, her eyes filled with bitter resentment.

Abigail couldnโ€™t help but laugh out loud.

Gabriel frowned in irritation. โ€œWhat are you laughing at?โ€

Abigail said, โ€œNothing. Instead of making me move rooms, why donโ€™t you just let me see Grandpa? As long as I get to see him, I wonโ€™t say anything to anyone.โ€

Gabriel gave her a suspicious look, then nodded after thinking it over. โ€œFine, when do you want to see him?โ€

Abigail hadnโ€™t expected him to agree so easily. Her breathing quickened. โ€œTomorrow morning, is that okay?โ€

Her tone was cautious. Gabriel didnโ€™t pick up on it and nodded casually, saying โ€œAlright. Just stop running your mouth out there.โ€

The thought of seeing Wyatt tomorrow made Abigail both nervous and cheerful. Her tone softened for once, โ€œOkay, Iโ€™m going back to my room now,โ€ were almost the same words as before, but this time her attitude was much better.

Gabriel nodded in satisfaction. He was about to ask something else when Abigail had already turned and walked away. Seeing Wyatt made it hard for her to sleep all night.

Early in the morning, Abigail stepped out of her room and ran into Stephen coming in from outside.

Their eyes met. Stephenโ€™s expression flickered, and without saying a word, he headed upstairs quickly.

Abigail felt something strange but didnโ€™t dwell on it, then checked the time. It was 7 a.m.

She pushed down her excitement and walked toward the villa next door. As she got closer, she sensed something amiss around the house.

Abigail quickly stepped inside and saw a few maids cleaning. Abigailโ€™s expression tensed, her voice urgent. โ€œWhereโ€™s my Grandpa?โ€

The maids looked at her and one of them replied, โ€œHe was sent to a nursing home.โ€

There were no further words.

Abigail immediately thought of Stephen. Her instincts told her he was behind this. Her gorgeous face turned cold. She spun around and left the villa.

The loud banging on the door woke the people inside. When the door opened, Gabriel saw Abigail standing there, and his brows furrowed in displeasure. โ€œWhatever it is, canโ€™t it wait until we get up?โ€ he questioned.

โ€œWhy did you send Grandpa to a nursing home?โ€ Abigail stared straight at Gabriel, her voice laced with iciness.

Gabrielโ€™s eyes flickered, but his tone was full of displeasure. โ€œIs this how you talk to me? He went to the nursing home to recover.โ€

Abigail didnโ€™t buy it. โ€œYou promised I could see him today. Which nursing home did Grandpa go to?โ€

โ€œAbby.โ€ Biancaโ€™s voice came from inside the room. She stepped out in silk pajamas, her tone gentle. โ€œThe nursing home doesnโ€™t allow visits. Even your father and I canโ€™t get in. Just wait until your grandfather comes back, alright?โ€

Abigailโ€™s eyes darkened. She had no choice but to wait. โ€œWhen will Grandpa be back?โ€

Feeling a bit guilty, Bianca avoided her gaze, her reply vague. โ€œIt wonโ€™t be long.โ€

Abigail knew she wasnโ€™t getting a real answer from Bianca. A flash of irony passed through her eyes as she turned and walked downstairs.

She could still vaguely hear Gabriel complaining to Bianca about her attitude.

Abigail felt her anger boiling over. She didnโ€™t know exactly how involved Gabriel and Bianca were in sending Wyatt away, but she was certain of one thing: it had something to do with Stephen.

Stephen entered the dining room and was a bit surprised to see Abigail already at the table.

Thinking about their encounter earlier that morning, for once, he didnโ€™t say anything sarcastic and sat down next to Daniella.

But just as he did, Abigailโ€™s voice rang out. โ€œStephen, youโ€™re disgusting.โ€

Her words stunned everyone at the table. Stephenโ€™s face turned red as he shot to his feet. โ€œAbigail, what the hell is that supposed to mean?โ€
