Chapter 94

Blanca heard Gabriel’s words and immediately grew anxious, saying, “What’s wrong with you? Such a huge thing happened, and you hit and ran? Did you take the injured to the hospital?”

“Mom–” Stephen shouted, but before he could finish, the leading police officer interrupted him. “Since you’re Stephen, come with us.”

“Mom, I didn’t hit anyone. Officers, I really didn’t. I didn’t hit and run!” He struggled, his heart filled with fear and confusion, but more than anything, grievance.

He didn’t know why his father would treat him like this. He didn’t know how badly the victim was injured, nor did he know if he’d end up in prison for three years like Abigail had back then.

Seeing Stephen’s state, Bianca lost her composure and rushed forward to grab his hand, saying to the police, “Is there some misunderstanding? What if the person who reported the case mistook him for somebody else?”

“The surveillance captured the entire car accident,” the police officer said before forcefully dragging Stephen out of the house. Stephen hadn’t even had time to change his shoes, and as he walked, one slipper fell off.

Daniella and Christian hurried down from upstairs. Seeing so many police officers, both wore confused expressions on their faces.

“Mom, what’s going on? Why are there so many police officers? Is Stevie in trouble?” Christian and Daniella asked simultaneously.

Bianca knew nothing and could only cry. “The police say he hit and ran. Let’s see what the police station says.”

Gabriel looked solemn, his gaze falling on Bianca, who was weeping profusely. He frowned and said, “Crying won’t help now. The important thing is to find a way to bail him out quickly. He’s not married yet; having a criminal record would be bad.”

Bianca said, “What can we do? How could this child hit and run? Back then, Dani just ran…”

“Enough, talking about this now is useless. Call Abigail!” Gabriel interrupted the sniffling Bianca impatiently.

Christian said, “This time, getting her to take the blame isn’t possible, right? And she had done that before. If the surveillance caught it, it must have captured Stevie’s build and appearance. Stevie’s figure is too different from hers, and the police aren’t fools.” Christian thought using the same method twice was too risky.

Gabriel said, “Who said anything about getting her to take the blame? Didn’t you go to see her tonight? There were people around her, and she had an alibi. Why would we get her to take the blame? I want her to come back and discuss how to save Stevie!” After speaking, Gabriel went upstairs.

Daniella immediately said, “Let’s find her first. She knows Sebastian. I heard Sebastian has a lot of connections in this area. Previously, to experience different lives, he even stayed in prison as an inmate for a long time.”

Upon hearing Daniella’s words, Bianca immediately clung to the hope like a lifeline. But now, Abigail had moved out of Gibson Villa, and she had taken Wyatt with her. No one in the entire Gibson family knew where she was living.

Stephen had been in the detention center for almost two days. In these two days, he could barely eat. When he finally managed to grab food once, it was as bad as pig slop.

Having lived a life of luxury since childhood, he had never eaten such awful food, and the fact that he had to fight others for it made him even more depressed.

The stench of the nearby urinal lingered in his nostrils, making every minute and second there a torment.

Just then, someone going to urinate suddenly stepped on his foot. Stephen sucked in a breath of pain, looked at the person, and was kicked again.

“Fuck you!” After two days of pent-up anger, Stephen could no longer control himself. But as soon as he cursed, he was punched hard.

“Pretty tough, huh?” The other inmates surrounded him. “Heard your last name is Gibson, You’re the second son of the Gibson family, right? You’re also an old acquaintance of our boss. Now, guys, beat the shit out of him.”

The person stepping on Stephen let out a cold laugh and gave the order. Then, Stephen was severely beaten.

Stephen was in so much pain that his mind went blank, only vaguely thinking, ‘Who is their boss, and what grudge do they have against me?’

A furious shout came from outside the iron gate, and the punches and kicks stopped.

Stephen curled up in a ball from the beating. Every breath he took made his chest feel as if it were being torn apart. Back then, when Abigail first came here, she must have suffered such bullying too.

Wronged and bullied, she had almost died in prison. She must hate the Gibson family to the core.

Now, Stephen hated Gabriel for unhesitatingly pushing him out to take the blame. Abigail had done nothing, yet when she was taken away, they had forced her to admit to false charges. At that time, she must have been extremely sad and desperate.

Stephen now knew what it felt like to be betrayed by the most trusted family.
