Chapter 122: That Was Different
At that very moment, Gianna had no idea what had transpired at home. After the nurse finished bandaging her, she shared some precautions for Gianna to take. However, Gianna was distracted, her mind filled with thoughts about Caleb’s current situation.
“Ms. Sherman, are you listening? Ms. Sherman?”
With a sense of resignation, the nurse extended her hand, waving it in front of Gianna’s eyes.
Do all wealthy people behave this capriciously? Despite suffering such severe injuries, she still seems nonchalant about it.
Jolted back to her senses, Gianna gave an embarrassed smile.
“I heard you,” she replied. “After returning home, I need to regularly change my dressing and come back for a follow-up every three days.”
“It’s not just that… Never mind. Ms. Sherman, I’ll inform your family about what needs to be done. You can go back to what you’re doing.”
The nurse gestured with her hand, busying herself with clearing the table. Gianna hummed in acknowledgment, then stood up and returned to the emergency room.
At that moment, blood continued to flow through the tubes, while Caleb remained unconscious. Chelsea had already given too much blood. Fearing that she might not be able to endure it, the doctor suggested, “Ms. Yardley, perhaps we should stop and look for other blood donors.”
Chelsea’s complexion had turned slightly pale, yet she rejected the doctor’s suggestion.
“I’m fine. You guys keep going. Do it until he wakes up.”
“This…”
The doctor hesitated for a moment, unsure if he should tell her the truth. Even if Chelsea were to give all her blood to Caleb, it was uncertain whether the latter would ever wake up. Even if he were to do so, there was a high likelihood he would be left in a vegetative state. Yet the truth was so harsh that he didn’t dare to share it with them. He feared that once he revealed the truth, Chelsea, who was the blood donor, along with the other two who had been anxiously waiting for the outcome, would be unable to bear the harsh reality and ultimately collapse in despair.
Hence, the doctor silently focused on the readings on the machine, contemplating when to stop the transfusion.
Gianna was moved to the point of tears. “Ms. Yardley, you and Caleb are not related by blood or marriage, yet you’re willing to go so far for him. I really don’t know how to express my gratitude…”

Chapter 122: That Was Different
Chelsea teased, “Look who’s talking, aren’t you doing the same?”
Gianna blinked, whispering, “That’s different…”
Lai 3,51%.
Five years ago, Caleb had saved her. It was only natural that she would go to great lengths for him.
In comparison, Chelsea was different. She was the cherished daughter of a wealthy family, and she didn’t owe anything to Caleb. There was just no reason for her to sacrifice herself for him.
Gianna decided that once Caleb woke up, she was determined to tell him the whole story. She wanted to ensure that he didn’t misplace his gratitude. As for her, she decided to swallow the humiliation she had just endured at the Quixall residence, vowing to exact her revenge on Raquel in the future.
Time trickled by until the doctor removed the blood transfusion tube from Caleb. Yet, there were still no signs of Caleb waking up. Chelsea was starting to feel a little drained, wearily propping up her forehead with her hand.
Gianna quickly stepped forward. “Ms. Yardley, let Mr. Langford take you home. I can take care of Caleb by myself. It’s a good opportunity for Mr. Langford to get some fresh air.”
Chelsea shook her head.
“No need to trouble him. I’ll have my own driver come over. However, there’s something I hope you can do.”
Gianna’s heart suddenly tightened. “What is it?”
The price is here. If Chelsea were to raise any demands that could harm the Sherman family, how am I supposed to explain it to my father? She had mentally prepared herself for the worst, but all she heard Chelsea say was, “It’s not a big deal, but I hope you won’t mention that I helped Caleb, especially not to my mother.”
