Revenge Forged in Prison
Chapter 123: Our Lips Are Sealed
That’s all? As she let her guard down, Gianna was filled with confusion.
The Yardley family saved the eldest son of the Quixall family, inadvertently assisting the Sherman family as well. This is a huge debt of gratitude! Chelsea could have used this opportunity to increase her family’s influence, but oddly, she insisted we keep it a secret. What’s her reason? Could it be that Mrs. Yardley has some bias against Caleb, leaving Chelsea no choice but to keep quiet?
Gianna found herself thinking back to her first encounter with Chelsea. Back then, Chelsea said she needed to see Caleb but never revealed why. Considering what she just said, it’s quite likely Chelsea came without Mrs. Yardley’s knowledge. She probably sought Caleb out for a private matter, rather than the Yardley family suddenly taking an interest in him.
Gianna suddenly realized the truth and quickly lowered her head. “Ms. Yardley, rest assured, my lips are sealed.” Only then did Chelsea smile, pick up her bag, and leave. After she left, Gianna still wore a face of gratitude.
“Mr. Langford, Ms. Yardley is truly a kind person. Before, I thought she was aloof and unapproachable. Now, it seems those were just my narrow-minded perceptions. A person who seems indifferent might actually help a stranger, but someone with a friendly face could just as well be a twisted psycho. I’ve learned not to judge a book by its cover; I will never hastily judge others again.”
Norman murmured, “Yes, indeed…”
Gianna asked with surprise, “Mr. Langford, are you even listening? Why do you look so distracted?” Norman snapped back to reality. “I was… I was just wondering, Ms. Sherman, how you got your left hand pierced by a sharp weapon? What on earth happened at the Quixall residence?”
Gianna bit her lower lip, her expression somewhat uneasy. “Mr. Langford, it’s no big deal. It was entirely an accident on my part. It has nothing to do with anyone else.”
Paying the price of her hand allowed her to see through the true nature of her once-best friend. To her, it wasn’t such a bad deal at all.
Norman clenched his fists. “So it was an accident, huh. Miss, you must be more careful in the future. If you get injured this severely again, Mr. Sherman will blame me.”
Gianna stuck out her tongue, regaining her lively self. “Of course, Mr. Langford. I’m really sorry. The problem is my own, yet I’ve dragged you into it. Don’t worry. Once we get back, I’ll secretly give you a reward. Please, don’t be mad at me!”

Norman rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. “Ms. Sherman, it’s not about the reward…”
“Is the reward not enough? Then I’ll just increase it tenfold!”
Norman could only sigh.
Meanwhile, Caleb’s eyes remained tightly shut, his face devoid of vitality. Gianna was alone by his bedside, her eyes swollen so red it made her look comical.
“Caleb, you need to wake up soon. How am I supposed to help you find the one responsible for this if you don’t? Do you know? The police had been to your house, but your dad… No, Mr. Quixall was adamant that he knew nothing, stating it was just an ordinary accident and that this event was heartbreaking for everyone.”
Gianna found the whole situation utterly ridiculous. Even though she clearly saw the Quixall family’s black Bentley, George stubbornly denied any involvement. He even told the police it might have been one of his servants who secretly took his car, as he’d noticed his car keys were missing.
