Chapter 139: Suitable Organ Donor
Ultimately, it was George who had won. The case of the Bentley hit-and-run was solved within three days. The tall security guard, Kevin, was apprehended that same day. Two days later, he confessed to all his crimes. With additional testimony from several Quixall family witnesses, there was no doubt he was the murderer. Even though Walden and his assistant weren't entirely content with the outcome, the evidence was right before their eyes, leaving them no choice but to believe.
Right now, the happiest person was none other than George. The assailant was imprisoned, and Caleb had fallen unconscious. Moreover, Gianna had failed to catch a clear glimpse of his face, so what good would it do for her to only recall a license plate number? If, at that moment, Jesse could successfully locate a suitable organ donor, he would truly be the biggest winner in life.
Gianna was utterly unwilling to accept this outcome. The moment she received the news, she felt an overwhelming urge to storm into the Quixall residence and compel George to reveal the whole truth. However, her rationality stopped her. What good would it do even if she went? The Quixall family was united, and given her strained relationship with George and Deborah, how could they possibly reveal the truth to her? Moreover, she might not only fail to uncover the truth she sought but also end up deeply humiliated, just like the time she had faced Raquel. How unbearable. Gianna was filled with regret for her inability to do anything.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
“Please, come in.” Gianna forcefully held back her tears, managing to muster a standardized smile.
As soon as Chelsea walked through the door, she was met with Gianna’s unnatural smile. “Are you upset about the assailant?”
“No…” Despite Gianna’s denial, the look in her eyes had dimmed.
Chelsea gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. “I come to bring you good news,” Chelsea said straightforwardly. “Jesse’s organ donor has been located. George won’t bother you and Caleb anymore.”
Chelsea responded with a silent smile.
In truth, Yelena had found an organ donor two days prior. However, an unexpected incident occurred, resulting in the donor’s heart being destroyed. Chelsea knew that the Quixall family hadn’t found a heart and would continue to trouble Caleb. Therefore, she utilized the Yardley family’s connections, urgently searching for a suitable organ both domestically and internationally. In just a day and a half, a suitable heart for Jesse was found. The entire journey was by air, and it only took fifteen hours for the heart to be delivered. Now, the heart was already on its way.
Gianna was profoundly moved. “Ms. Yardley, you’ve saved Caleb again. How can I ever thank you?”
Chelsea shook her head. “You don’t need to thank me. Truth be told, this matter is somewhat related to me. Helping him is also a way for me to redeem myself.”
Gianna didn’t quite understand the implications, but she still managed to flash a genuine smile. “Ms. Yardley, once Caleb wakes up, I will have him personally express his gratitude to you.”
Chelsea’s gaze held a touch of melancholy. “That is if he wakes up.”
Given Caleb’s current condition, it was uncertain whether he would ever wake up. Chelsea figured it would be a very long time before Caleb could thank her.
The light in Gianna’s eyes vanished in an instant. “Will he wake up?”
“Definitely. My mom has already given her consent. The Yardley family is going to seek out the best medical team to treat him until he successfully awakens,” Chelsea assured.
Upon hearing these words, Gianna still felt a bit uneasy. “Ms. Yardley, you mentioned before that Caleb was a fugitive. What was that all about?”
Chelsea’s expression turned somewhat awkward. “This was a mistake made by my family. At that time, I only said it to suppress George. However, to completely dispel his thoughts, I’ll have Caleb transferred to the Yardley family’s hospital. Don’t worry. I’ve already persuaded Mom. She won’t lay a finger on Caleb.”
