Phillip’s words were rather persuasive, convincing Norman. Hence, the latter did not speak any further.
Suddenly, Phillip inquired, “How’s that fool from the Levinson family doing?” He didn’t mention Raquel’s name directly, but Norman understood immediately.
“She was taken to another hospital by Mr. Levinson, where she’s currently undergoing treatment.”
Phillip scoffed. “He hurt my daughter and got off with just a minor injury. She got off easy!”
Norman nodded in agreement. “Originally, the Quixall family should have been implicated as well, but they firmly insisted that everything was solely Raquel’s doing. It isn’t appropriate for us to put them in a difficult position further.”
In truth, the primary reason was that the strength of the Quixall family was overwhelming. Even though they couldn’t compare to the Yardley family, the Quixall family wasn’t one to be easily toppled by just any other clan. Considering how George had sacrificed Raquel, Phillip decided to let that matter slide. Considering how petty George was, Phillip reckoned he wouldn’t be too friendly toward the Sherman family in the future.
The two of them chatted as they walked, quickly leaving the hospital behind.
Meanwhile, inside the hospital room, Gianna was scrolling through her phone when she suddenly came across a piece of news: A black Bentley had injured four people in a hit-and-run. The police are currently on a manhunt. When she saw the headline, a foreboding sense of unease began to rise in her heart. Could it be… This Bentley is…
Her heart gave a sudden jolt. She clicked on the news article and saw a pixelated portrait. This person seems somewhat similar… Damn it! Why can’t I remember?
Gianna’s mind was racing, but for the life of her, she couldn’t recall who that person was. She quickly finished reading the news, then gave Norman a call. “Mr. Langford, I saw on the news that a black Bentley was involved in a highway accident, hitting four people. I suspect it might be Mr. Quixall’s car. Could you help me look into it?”
Norman promptly responded, “Of course, Ms. Sherman. I’ll look into it right away.”
He ended the call and began reaching out to old friends who had once worked at the Quixall residence. “Leedan, it’s me. Yeah, that’s right. I’m doing pretty well. Hahaha. You’ve guessed it. I just wanted to ask you to check something for me. Is the black Bentley of the Quixall family still in the garage? Okay. I’ll wait for your news.”
Five minutes had passed when Norman’s phone rang again.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to Leedan, then relayed the information that Leedan had provided to Gianna. “Ms. Sherman, my old friend mentioned that the black Bentley was driven away by a tall security guard early in the morning. Rumor had it that the security guard who took the car didn’t actually have an order from Mr. Quixall. When the other servants noticed his unusual behavior, they desperately tried to stop him. However, he fought back with a stun baton, injuring them. At present, six of them had sustained serious injuries and had been rushed to the hospital for treatment.”
This piece of news hadn’t been mentioned; presumably, it hadn’t been released yet. Once it was confirmed, the identity of the security guard would be known to everyone. Upon comparing the photo of the man in the news with her recollection of the tall security guard, Gianna found that they matched up to an astonishing ninety-nine point nine percent.
Gianna’s heart was pounding wildly, leaving her at a loss for what to do next. “Mr. Langford, what do you think we should do? Mr. Quixall had just mentioned that his car keys were stolen, and the very next day, someone was driving that car in a hit and run. As the main culprit, is he going to get away without paying any price?”
Norman remained silent for a moment before letting out a sigh. “Ms. Sherman, sometimes, the world is just that unfair. Not all villains meet their karma, nor do all good people live a long life. Sometimes, the fate of the good can be far more tragic than that of the wicked.”
