Revenge Forged in Prison
Chapter 141: Let Us Go
“Confront you directly?” Gianna chuckled lightly. “Ms. Levinson, if I were really to confront you directly, are you certain you could handle it?”
Raquel choked up, her gaze filled with resentment as she looked at the bandages wrapped around her hands. Ever since Phillip had ruined her hands, they had practically become useless. Regardless of whether it was mealtime or a trip to the restroom, Raquel needed assistance. Originally, she already had a bad reputation within this circle. When everyone discovered that her hands were no longer functional, they secretly mocked her behind her back, calling her disabled.
If Raquel were to provoke Gianna again, she reckoned a fate worse than having her hands ruined might await her.
Upon seeing his fiancée being mistreated, Jesse couldn’t help but speak up. “Ms. Sherman, we came here merely to visit Caleb. Why are you being so hostile toward us?”
Gianna still maintained her aloof demeanor. “If you don’t want to see me, you better leave soon. Caleb doesn’t want to see you all anyway.”
Jesse was also getting a bit angry. He gave Caleb one final look, then firmly grasped Raquel’s wrist. “Raquel, let’s go.”
The two stormed off, not even bothering to shut the door behind them.
Norman stepped forward, saying, “Ms. Sherman, they harbor resentment. They might cause trouble again next time.”
Gianna wore an expression of complete indifference. “So be it, then. Do I look like I’m scared of them?”
Taking in how Jesse was able to move swiftly, Gianna supposed he was doing fine. Raquel was also in high spirits. When she confronted others, she did so with vigor. It was easy to imagine that if she hadn’t been there and if Caleb happened to awaken, the two would have taken advantage of him. While Phillip still allowed her to see Caleb, Gianna needed to take the opportunity to knock Jesse and Raquel down a peg, ensuring they wouldn’t dare to be so arrogant again.
Upon seeing how fiercely Gianna was protecting Caleb, Norman couldn’t help but say, “Ms. Sherman, once Mr. Jenkins wakes up, Mr. Sherman won’t allow you to come see him anymore. Are you really willing to accept such an outcome?”
He was genuinely concerned for Gianna, fearing that she might not be able to cope, which prompted him to ask this question. Later on, Gianna hadn’t expected to be suddenly hit with such a question. She couldn’t help but lower her lashes in melancholy. “That’s enough, Mr. Langford. What can I do even if I don’t accept it? I can’t resist my dad’s…”
Chapter 149: Let Us Go
The day Caleb was taken away from the Sherman residence by George, Gianna, too, was confined by Phillip. Phillip forbade her from seeing Caleb again and unmercifully confined her to her room. Unwilling to accept the situation, she hastily reached out to her grandfather, Derek Sherman, asking him to step in and take charge on her behalf.
Upon hearing that Caleb was Gianna’s savior, Derek immediately intervened and reprimanded Phillip, “Phillip, you’re really regressing! Not only did you fail to show gratitude to the person who saved Gia, but you even locked her up! Back then, if I treated you this way, would you have had the chance to give birth to Gia?”
Phillip was not convinced. “Dad, can you really compare the two incidents? Deborah is a good girl from a respectable family, but that Caleb guy has a criminal past. Moreover, he actually stole the birthday gift I had gotten for Gia. That necklace was one of a kind in the entire world. How could I not try to get it back from him?”
Gianna glared, exasperated. “Dad, how many times do I have to tell you? Caleb did not steal the necklace. He was wrongly accused!”
Phillip snorted lightly. “Even if he didn’t steal it, he’s still involved somehow.”
