Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 151: I Will Decide

Chelsea didn’t share the subsequent events with Miriam. She simply stated the final outcome, saying it was Caleb who had saved her.

Miriam’s expression was constantly changing. “Chelsea, are you sure? Was it really that young man who saved you?”

Chelsea gave a slight nod. “I could see clearly, but it’s just that, after he saved me, he returned to the Quixall residence. I didn’t get a chance to express my gratitude to him.”

After a moment of silence, Miriam let out a cold huff. “It was only right for him to save you. I haven’t even settled the score with him for stabbing me last time.”

Chelsea hugged her arm and cooed, “Mom, don’t say things like that. If he had truly left me for dead, would I have been able to return and see you?”

Miriam, worn down by her daughter’s insistence, asked, “Chelsea, what do you propose we do, then?”

Miriam simply thought she would not go after Caleb anymore in the future. However, judging by Chelsea’s demeanor, it seemed she was dissatisfied with that method.

Chelsea pondered before saying, “How about this, Mom? After a few days, once I’ve sorted out the matters at the company, I plan to bring him on board as an employee as a way to repay his life-saving favor. What do you think?”

Miriam was quite dissatisfied. Though Chelsea claimed she wanted to hire Caleb as an employee, given her nature, it was certain that Caleb’s position would be no minor role. If he were to walk right in and become a deputy CEO or something of that sort, that would harm the Yardley family’s reputation.

Chelsea could see what was on her mother’s mind, and she couldn’t help but say, “Mom, I promise I’ll have someone keep an eye on him. Once he’s in, I’ll have him work under my watch. If he slips up even once, I’ll fire him immediately. Do you think that’s acceptable?”

Miriam thought there really was no other way. If I don’t agree, there’s no telling what shocking thing Chelsea might do next.

“All right, but I have one condition,” Miriam paused before enunciating, “I must be the one deciding Caleb’s position.”

At this point, everything had finally settled down. When Chelsea was ready to share the good news with Caleb, she was informed that Caleb had been in a car accident and his life was hanging by a thread.

Finished blood transfusion. At that time, Miriam’s resentment toward Caleb hadn’t completely dissipated, so Chelsea kept the fact that she had given Caleb a blood transfusion a secret.

However, later on, George was adamant about taking Caleb away. Chelsea felt helpless and had no choice but to reveal the truth to Miriam. She asked Miriam to help find the best doctor, and then transferred Caleb to their own hospital.

Of course, Miriam, being the matriarch, was initially displeased. Chelsea put in a lot of thought and effort, and she spoke many good words on behalf of Caleb, managing to reluctantly persuade Miriam.

That day, seeing that Chelsea wasn’t around, Miriam seized the opportunity to confront Caleb at the hospital. However, just as she was nearing the flower bed, before she even entered the hospital’s main gate, she ran into Caleb, who had seemingly delivered himself to her on a silver platter.

The resentment lurking in her heart for a long time surged forth when she saw Caleb.

“Hmph! Don’t think that just because Chelsea is protecting you, I can’t do anything to you. I’ve sent her away on a business trip, and she won’t be back for at least three days. During these three days, you’ll need to please me until I say I’m satisfied. Only then can you return to your leisurely life. However…” Miriam flashed a meaningful smile and added, “Whether you’ll make it out alive or not, that remains an unknown.”

No sooner had the words been spoken than Caleb became alert, readying himself to take off in a run.
