Chapter 152: Save You

However, the few bodyguards waiting behind Miriam immediately surrounded Caleb, leaving him with no way out. Caleb was irate. “Madam Yardley, this is a public place. Aren’t you afraid of damaging the Yardley family’s reputation by acting so brazenly?”

Miriam was unbothered. “My family owns this hospital, so what do I have to fear? Look around. Is anyone daring enough to save you?”

Caleb cast a sweeping glance around him. Those who accidentally met his gaze felt scorched, promptly averting their eyes. People are cold-hearted. Indeed, no matter when, the only person one can truly rely on is oneself.

Before Caleb could even move to grab the arm of the person in front of him, he was abruptly kicked in the knee from behind. The force of the blow was such that he had no choice but to kneel on the ground. The bodyguard in front of him showed no mercy, landing a punch squarely on his shoulder.

Overwhelmed by a wave of intense pain, Caleb found himself collapsing onto the ground. If he weren’t still recovering, he wouldn’t find himself in such a disheveled state. When he needed help most, the Quixall family not only refrained from lending him a helping hand, but they were also the ones pushing him into the line of fire personally.

Caleb was panting heavily, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. Miriam waved and ordered, “Take him away!” “Yes!” Upon receiving their instructions, a few bodyguards began escorting Caleb toward the car.

Caleb was consumed by hatred to the utmost degree, yet he was powerless to fight back. The events of that day, if given the chance in the future, he would certainly repay tenfold. The car started, with Caleb sitting inside, enduring a seemingly endless torment.

Roughly half an hour had passed before the car finally came to a slow stop. Caleb was pushed out of the car and discarded onto the ground as if he were nothing more than trash. Miriam looked down at him condescendingly and said, “I’ve prepared a big surprise for you. Use these next three days to hone your skills.”

Caleb was at a loss, entirely clueless about what could possibly be waiting for him ahead. Two bodyguards then each grabbed one of Caleb’s shoulders, roughly ushering him into the basement.

As soon as the door swung open, the three people inside revealed gazes akin to starving wolves, and they rushed toward the exit in a frenzy. Just as they were about to burst forth, the bodyguards extended their hands, pushing Caleb inside. Subsequently, the basement door was mercilessly shut, leaving Caleb alone with three fierce, burly men.

Miriam chuckled from outside. “You think you’re quite the hotshot, don’t you? Well, why don’t you try to beat them?” The three individuals inside were indeed the culprits behind Chelsea’s abduction. They had been captured by the Yardley family half a month prior and had been without food for ten days. However, just an hour ago, a maid, under strict orders from Miriam, had brought them a platter of raw meat smeared with fresh blood, significantly alleviating their hunger.

A single platter of raw meat could hardly satiate the hunger of those three individuals who had been starving for a long time. They fought fiercely over that hard-earned meal, their bond momentarily forgotten, until each bore the marks of their scuffle. Once they had finished fighting, the maid entered again to relay a message, saying, “Madam Yardley has stated that if you can eliminate the person who will enter shortly, she will let you leave.”

The eyes of the three robust men lit up, as if they had seen the first light before dawn. “Is that for real?” “Are you certain the promise will be kept?” The maid gave a slight smile and said, “Of course. That’s Madam Yardley’s own order. I’m just a maid, so how could I possibly have the authority to command you?”

All three people were sent into a frenzy as soon as those words were spoken. “All right. We guarantee that we’ll beat that brat so badly that his own parents won’t recognize him!”
