Listen to this chapter:

The day the heart compatibility rewire came out, Yelena bribed the doctor to switch Caleb's results with hers. The doctor had warned her.

“Ms. Quixall, Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Jesse Qirall aren’t…res. If your family insists on giving Mr. Jenkins’ heart to Mr. Jesse Qirall, the risks could be grave.”

Back then, Yelena had answered calmly. “I understand. After this, I’ll do everything I can to find one…to let him get hurt.”

Of course, fate never let federateurmarehe matcher him, whether it’s here or Deur Fam.

The doctor sighed. “There’s really nothing else we can…”

After all, Yelena was the daughter of a prestigious family; he couldn’t defy her orders. It was unfortunate for Caleb, though. Once the truth came out, no one knew how his family would react.

With the fake report in hand, Yelena went to Caleb, trying to convince him to give up his heart for Jesse.

Naturally, he refused. He wasn’t ready to die. Giving up his heart meant giving up his life.

Furious, he lashed out, “That good-for-nothing Jesse should’ve died years ago! Why didn’t I just…feste off in that accident?”

His words struck Yelena speechless. How could he say something so cruel? Jesse is his younger brother!

Anger surged in her chest, and at that moment, she felt justified. All she wanted was to test Caleb’s reaction, but instead, he’d been completely ungrateful. So she decided to stay quiet and let her parents handle it.

So she hid the truth. She watched him get misunderstood by the family. Watched their parents manipulate him, trying to persuade him to give up his heart.

And then what happened next caught her off guard. Their father hit Caleb with his car.

When she visited him in the hospital, pale and eerily calm, her heart twisted in pain. She blamed herself. Why had she done any of it?

But it was too late. What was done couldn’t be undone.

Tears ran down her face. She wiped them again and again, her voice hoarse.

“Cale, how can I ever make it up to you? Believe me, I never wanted you to die. I faked the report because I wanted to see your reaction. The truth is, I had already made up my mind. If you said yes, I was going to secretly find another donor. I wanted to save both of you, not just Jesse.”

At first, Caleb had just been casually asking questions, but he hadn’t expected the real match to Jesse to be Yelena.

When he woke up, the first thing Jesse whispered to him was that everything had been Yelena’s doing.

Chapter 162: How Can I Make It Up To You

She made up the lie that his heart was the perfect match for Jesse just to hurt him. But the truth was even worse. She’d done it to save herself.

Because she was afraid that if her parents found out she was the match, they’d force her to donate her heart. So she changed the report. She lied and said that the best match for Jesse was Caleb.

At that moment, every injustice he’d faced since getting out of prison came flooding back. Overwhelmed by it all, Caleb started coughing up blood, then passed out.

“Cale!”
