Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 189: Do Not Push It

Taken aback, Raquel retorted, “Aren’t these injuries all over me evidence enough?”

Caleb scoffed. “Not necessarily. Ms. Levinson, you should be well aware of what you’ve done before you came here.”

Raquel was visibly upset as she retorted, “Are you implying that I deliberately ruined my own wedding day just to frame you, going as far as rolling around in the mud?”

Caleb said nonchalantly, “Isn’t that the case?”

Immediately, Raquel was left speechless. The onlookers also felt that Caleb’s speculation was a bit far-fetched. They all thought he was desperately trying to excuse himself.

Jesse shielded Raquel behind him. “Caleb, don’t push it! I’ve put up with your bullying, but Raquel is innocent. Even if you don’t want her to marry me, you can’t humiliate her in public!”

Yelena also chimed in, “Cale, if there’s an issue, come to me directly. Please don’t mess with Jesse and Raquel.”

Deborah, unable to bear the sight of her son’s distress, found herself compelled to speak up. “Caleb, let’s discuss whatever it is back home. We shouldn’t ruin your brother’s wedding.”

George’s brows furrowed in anger as he said, “Caleb, how could you do this? Apologize to Raquel immediately. Or else, I’ll have you locked up for another decade!”

Harris watched the scene unfold with great interest. How will this young man named Caleb defend himself when he’s being accused by everyone? I’m intrigued.

Manny spoke softly. “Mr. Xiques, five minutes have passed. It’s already 11:30 a.m. Will the meeting still proceed?”

Harris waved his hand dismissively. “Let’s not proceed today. Postpone it to tomorrow.”

Nodding, Manny immediately set off to relay the order to his subordinates.

As Caleb ignored the few individuals from the Quixall family, his gaze was fixed on Raquel. “All right, then. Since you insist on contradicting me, I suppose I have a few questions for you,” he said.

Regardless of whether Raquel agreed or not, he spoke on his own accord. “Firstly, you claim that a man with the last name Jenkins kidnapped you. There are countless men in the world with that last name, so why are you so certain that I am the one who abducted you?”

Raquel remained calm and composed. “There are many men with that last name, but only you know and have a motive to kidnap me!”

Caleb smiled. “Ms. Levinson, you said that I had a motive to kidnap you. So, I’d like to ask you this. What exactly is this motive you believe I have?”

Raquel chuckled smugly. “Of course, it’s because you can’t let go of your feelings for me! Originally, I was engaged to you, but when Jesse returned, I became engaged to him instead. You couldn’t bear it, harboring resentment toward both of us. That’s why you devised this scheme, arranging for someone to kidnap me, all in a bid to prevent our marriage!”

With a slight smirk, Caleb retorted, “By your logic, I could also claim that you have a motive to frame me.”

“What could have possibly been my motive?”

“Isn’t it obvious? A few days ago, I hit you, almost tarnishing your reputation. You’ve held a grudge against me ever since. That’s why you orchestrated a plot against me on your wedding day, all with the intention of making me the target of public scorn!”

The entire scene erupted into chaos. They felt that both individuals made valid points, yet they couldn’t discern who was telling the truth or fabricating lies. One was surely lying among the two, and that liar was the hidden culprit behind today’s wedding delay.

In the first round of questioning, Raquel had lost, a fact she refused to accept in her heart. “What’s your second question? Let’s get it out of the way. I’m in a hurry to marry Jesse.”

“The second question… Mr. Levinson and Mrs. Levinson went out looking for you just now, but you came back alone. Where did they go? Didn’t you run into them when you were coming back?”
