Revenge Forged in Prison
Chapter 191: Picking On Me
A flicker of panic flashed through Raquel’s eyes. “I told them I needed to use the restroom, so…”
Caleb chuckled. “So, they just watched you escape. Even though you wore a heavy wedding dress and stumbled several times, they still couldn’t catch up to you.”
As soon as these words were spoken, the room erupted with laughter from the guests. Even Harris couldn’t help but let a smile tug at the corner of his mouth. His eloquence is truly not to be underestimated. If I can recruit him into my company…
His gaze suddenly darkened, and he decided to continue observing for a while longer. Once the wedding was over, he would make his move.
“I…” Subconsciously, Raquel wanted to retort, stating that she had cut off the hem of her dress to escape.
However, when she looked back, she found that the hem of her skirt was still perfectly attached to the dress. Her hastily conceived plan was full of flaws, and not only did it fail to refute Caleb, but it also put her in a difficult position.
Panic caused her eyes to well up with uncontrollable tears. They quickly gathered in her eyes, and with a slight blink, the tears slid down her cheeks.
“Boohoo… You’re all picking on me. Today is supposed to be my wedding day. I’m the one who got hurt. Not only do you not care about me, but you also ruthlessly mocked me because I couldn’t produce the crucial evidence… Boohoo.” Raquel was sobbing so hard that she could barely catch her breath.
“I–I’m not going through with this wedding!” Raquel’s voice quivered lightly, appearing utterly aggrieved.
Overwhelmed with distress, Jesse pulled her into his arms, glaring furiously at Caleb.
“Caleb, today is my wedding day with Raquel. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. It’s one thing to detain Raquel unlawfully, but how could you embarrass her in front of the guests? How do you expect her to show herself in public in the future?”
The louder he raised his voice, the more heartbroken Raquel felt. She buried her face in his shoulder, stuttering as she spoke. “I–It’s okay. W–We can discuss this another day…”
A jolt shot through Jesse’s heart. Another day? That can’t happen. For the past five years, Raquel has always found excuses to avoid having our wedding. Only when Caleb returned did she finally relent, expressing her willingness to marry me. However, our wedding today is on the verge of falling through because of Caleb’s behind-the-scenes manipulation.
The more he thought about it, the angrier Jesse became. He said resentfully, “Caleb, you’re not welcome here. Please leave on your own accord. Don’t make a scene and ruin our bond, turning us into enemies instead!”
Initially, George thought there was some merit to what Caleb had said. However, as soon as Jesse spoke, he felt that the situation had taken a strange turn. It seems the whole incident is a scheme orchestrated by Caleb. He openly arrived at the wedding venue, then secretly ordered someone to kidnap Raquel. When she attempted to escape, he informed his accomplices to release her, aiming to embarrass her at her wedding and sabotage the ceremony. How cunning!
Chapter 197: Picking On Me
Presenting himself as an obedient and sensible individual. Everyone has nothing but praise for him. In reality, he’s enamored with the power and status of the Quixall family. Despite knowing he’s an impostor, he chose not to reveal the truth. As a result, we mistakenly acknowledged him as our son, raising another’s child for nothing. Our efforts and affection had gone down the drain. The Quixall family has no room for such a deviously malicious individual!
George instantly flew into a rage. He pointed at Caleb with one hand and berated, “You heartless and ungrateful punk! Don’t embarrass yourself at your brother’s wedding. If you want to make a scene, do it at home. I’ll go home with you and we can carry on until you’ve had your fill!”
