Chapter 193: Dare To Confront

Subconsciously, George glanced at Harris. Only when he saw that the latter showed no particular reaction did he feel at ease. “Stop spouting nonsense in public! You felt the Quixall family wasn’t good enough for you, and you audaciously begged Madam Yardley to keep you around. How come you’re now playing the victim, badmouthing me in front of others?”

Caleb scoffed. “Only you truly know what you’ve done. Madam Yardley still has the contract you signed yourself. Do you dare to confront this with me?”

George erupted in anger. “You’ve got some nerve! Who do you think you are, acting out of line at Madam Yardley’s place? Moreover, who can tell if what you’re presenting is real or fake? You’re an amateur if you think you can fool me with a fake document!”

Since the Yardley family was mentioned, Chelsea, their representative, couldn’t remain silent. Regardless of perspective, she felt obligated to intervene. The Yardley family would not tolerate humiliation or disrespect. She flashed a half-smile and spoke in a chillingly cold voice. “Mr. Quixall, are you suggesting the Yardley family would stoop so low as to deceive you with counterfeit documents? Is that what you’re implying?”

George hadn’t expected Chelsea to defend Caleb. He was momentarily taken aback, then said, “Ms. Yardley, you don’t need to defend this troublemaker. He’s nothing but bad luck, a jinx who brings disaster wherever he goes. He’s not worth your family’s hospitality.”

Chelsea’s smile faded slightly. “Mr. Quixall, do I need to repeat myself? I didn’t ask you all these irrelevant things. I simply asked if you think the items from the Yardley family are subpar and nothing more than shameful fakes?”

George was breaking out in a cold sweat. “Ms. Yardley, that’s not what I meant. I just think that my foolish son is so careless that he’ll easily cause trouble for the Yardley family. To prevent such situations from happening again, I intend to teach him a lesson in public to make him remember it. Unexpectedly, I seem to have offended you because of this. I am truly sorry for that.”

George bowed deeply, sincerely expressing his apology. The entire room was stunned. No one had expected that George, always domineering in the business world, could speak to someone else in such a humble manner, especially someone younger than himself.

What was even more shocking was Chelsea’s muted reaction to George’s apology. She let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Don’t flatter yourself, Mr. Quixall. The contract hasn’t expired yet. Caleb still belongs to the Yardley family. If you insult him publicly, it’s as if you’re humiliating the Yardley family. If you dare to disrespect the Yardley family again in public, the consequences will be dire.”

Chelsea’s words were a blatant threat.

George’s face was filled with astonishment. He had never imagined that Caleb, considered trash by their Quixall family, would unexpectedly catch the fancy of Chelsea from the Yardley family. Aside from surpassing other families economically, the Yardley family was also connected to the underground forces of numerous cities; they were masters of both legitimate and illicit worlds. Those with limited interaction might assume the Yardley family was merely a powerful clan, but they would be mistaken. The most formidable aspect of the Yardley family wasn’t their overt financial prowess, but rather their tightly-knit underground network operating behind the scenes. These underworld forces were intricately interconnected, such that a single ripple could set off a chain reaction. Despite all odds, Yardley Group maintained a low profile, successfully evading police scrutiny for years without a single slip-up. This subtle sense of impending danger was the most terrifying aspect. George, quite fearful for his life, didn’t dare berate Caleb further. After uttering a few more words of apology, he sat down.
